Venesco, LLC is recruiting multiple Medical Technologists/Medical Laboratory Technician and Clinical Laboratory Specialist capabilities to work at the Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System in Montgomery, AL.  Medical Technologists will care for U.S. Veterans, making an impact on the lives of those who have served our country.

Hours: Will work the daytime shift, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a half hour for lunch. 

· Regular work hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with possible rotating weekends. 

Duties:

3.2.1 Routine and complex histopathological and cytopathological procedures to include:

o handling cell blocks

o frozen sections

o bone marrows

o autopsies

o and fine-need biopsies

2. Preparing technically adequate slides of surgical, cytology, and autopsy specimens by processing, embedding tissue, cutting, staining (including immunohistochemistry), and cover slipping. 

3. All forms of humidification use with the appropriate devices, including aerosols and high flow systems. 

4. Processes specimens in a timely manner, following written guidance in Lab policy for specific turnaround time rates 

5. Understand method specific Analytical Measuring Range for each test,

6. Perform new reagent lot-to lot studies as needed. To include proper documentation and determining acceptability of results.

7. Perform Calibration of all methods as needed according to instrument specifications. To include: Review of calibration results and determine acceptability: Run QC and review results after instrument calibrations.

8. Performs and reports all tests in accordance with established procedures, in an effort to meet specific turn-around-time criteria. Prepares and loads onto the instrument: reagents, calibrators and quality control materials as needed. 

9. Promotes a culture of safety within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service and works in a safe manner, following established procedures.

Requirements

  

Education: Four academic years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation such as biological science or chemistry; or b) Successful completion of two academic years of study above high school that included at least 24 semester hours in Chemistry and/or in appropriate fields of biological science and successful completion of a 12-month program of education and training in histopathology or cytotechnology.

Experience: One year of experience required. 

OR:

Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Examples are listed below:

a) Six months of experience in the health care field and two years of education above high school that included at least six semesters in health care related courses such as biological science, surgical technician courses or other courses related to the position; or an associate degree in a health care related field. 

b) Six months of experience in the health care field and successful completion of a course for health care technicians, hospital corpsmen, medical service specialists, or histopathology technicians given by the U.S. Armed Forces. 

AND Experience: At least one year of experience with routine and complex histopathological and cytopathological procedures to include handling cell blocks, frozen sections, bone marrows, autopsies, and fine-need biopsies as well as preparing technically adequate slides of surgical, cytology, and autopsy specimens by processing, embedding tissue, cutting, staining (including immunohistochemistry), and cover slipping.

Certifications: Maintains active, current, unrestricted certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Clinical Laboratory Specialist by the American Medical Technologists or American Socieity of Clinical Pathologists.

State Licensure: Hold a RT  and Polysomnographic Technology license by the state of California.
