Experienced Software Engineer–Developer

The Boeing Company is currently seeking Software Engineers (Associate, Experienced) to join the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Phantom Works Mission Systems Engineering team.

The candidate will assist software systems development on cloud infrastructures following modern DevSecOps and Agile execution processes Support all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements and interface definition, design, development, and integration of Cloud Native Software for Collaborative Mission Planning including:

  • Aviate, Navigate and Communicate (ANC)
  • Weapons, Sensor and Payload Planning
  • Network and Communication Configuration
  • Mission Debrief

The selected candidate will be responsible for and has ownership of the Mission Planning Software Design, Code, and Test ensuring performance, interfaces, and functional and non-functional software requirements are met. 

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop software design, coding and, unit/integration testing of features/user stories.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Work in small to medium sized agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills to tackle complex problems on a variety of projects and features.
  • Develop scalable and resilient front and backend solutions using cloud technologies.
  • Assist in the design, development and maintenance of software pipelines and tools.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to architectural principles and coding standards.
  • Support the Ground software verification/validation using the selected testing tools, laboratories, and simulators.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to acquire a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (Post-Start).
  • Experience with web-based environment development.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • 1+ years of experience in software development languages (e.g. Python, JavaScript, C++ and C#).
  • Familiarity with database solutions (e.g. SQL, MongoDB…).
  • Experience with working in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months.
  • Proficiency in backend programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Node.js, and C#).
  • Experience in frontend programming languages (e.g. React, and Redux).
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices such as continuous integration and development tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab Runners).
  • Experience utilizing commercial Cloud Providers such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and related frameworks.
  • Knowledge in web design and development of web applications.
  • Experience working in an Agile Environment (e.g. Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience working with Mission Planning Frameworks (e.g. JMPS, JOMS, NOMS).
  • Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering principles and tools (e.g. Ops analysis, subsystem/sensor models, Cameo, Rhapsody, etc.).

Summary pay range for Associate:  $86,700 - $117,300.00

Summary pay range for Experienced:  $107,100.00 - $144,900.00
