The APAC Data team is a dynamic, cross-functional team at the heart of our regional data strategy. This team operates at the intersection of global vision and local execution—bringing together experts from Data, Sales, Product, and Engineering to deliver client-centric data solutions tailored to diverse market needs. We are a collaborative group that thrives on solving sophisticated challenges that resonate with real-world commercial outcomes. We work with various asset classes including Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, to name a few, and partner closely with our Data Management Labs group to foster a shared approach for data management strategies. You will be supported by a team that values curiosity, accountability, and a shared dedication to excellence in fit for purpose data.  

What's the Role? 

As the Data Product Owner for Japan, you will lead all aspects of the development and delivery of data product strategies tailored to meet the unique requirements of diverse markets. You will use your expertise in data management, including data modelling and data quality to ensure datasets are fit for purpose to deliver data solutions aligned with client needs. You will need an understanding of both global strategies and local market dynamics ensuring that each data product not only aligns with global business goals but also resonates with client and business outcomes at a market level. You will play a meaningful role in integrating insights from multiple markets to formulate comprehensive data strategies, collaborating extensively with colleagues in Data, Sales, Product, and Engineering. 

We'll Trust You To: 

  • Use technical skills to advise on a comprehensive and outcome driven data strategy at a market and regional level to align with global objectives in a detailed and coordinated way 
  • Define fit-for-purpose data products by aligning on use cases and outcomes, and ensure their health is measured and reported with clarity and transparency 
  • Drive product development, build and analyze metrics to measure business impact and success to support specific market growth 
  • Advise those involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific data set or group of data sets, and connect client needs in a market and region with our global product objectives 
  • Communicate and prioritize key business requirements that will drive the evolution of our datasets 

You'll Need to Have: 

  • 8+ years of experience with data management concepts (data quality, data modeling) and experience evaluating trade-offs in design with Engineering and Product counterparts 
  • Experience as a product manager bringing sophisticated products to market or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated experience working with financial markets based products and core understanding of financial market players 
  • An understanding and appreciation of local market nuances, specific to Japan 
  • An understanding of market analytics, with the capability to translate sophisticated data insights into actionable strategies against clearly articulated and aligned business outcomes 
  • Outstanding leadership skills, with experience in influencing cross-functional teams and senior partners  
  • Extensive experience in communicating and coordinating with internal and external groups to define product and project scope, and demonstrable experience in delivering outcomes  
  • Customer focused approach and ability to interact with a diverse range of clients, in both a proactive and reactive manner, managing customer expectations and experience  

We'd Love to See: 

  • Japanese language proficiency at a business level (JLPT N2/N1 or equivalent)  
  • A degree/master/PhD or equivalent experience in a STEM subject or Business/Finance  
  • Formal knowledge of data governance and data management, supported by industry certifications (e.g. DAMA CDMP, DCAM, etc.)  
  • Proven capability in leading strategic data initiatives that have significantly impacted business outcomes
