Manager - Data Quality and Master Data Management.Commercial Operations SA

Manage data quality, governance and lineage challenges through ensuring data quality standards are upheld, providing technical data related guidance to MTN SA’s business units to ensure that data is interpreted correctly

 Tactical Alignment 

• Provide input into the strategy for the Data Quality and MDM function in the DACOE
• Align all operational activities undertaken in the department to the Ambition25 strategy objectives
• Drive best practice, iterative improvement and innovation at a strategic deployment level

Data Quality  

• Maintain data linage and integrity to ensure data is filtered correctly as data is being aggregated 
• Provide technical and non-technical guidance to business units/ functions to understand business data compliance rules, lineage, data lifecycle, data management, data capturing and reporting 
• Ensure that all data quality, governance and data lineage challenges are addressed through the maintenance of data compliance and data privacy across MTN SA 
• Monitor reports for data quality to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels
• Ensure there is a continuous improvement of MTN SA’s data quality posture through leading and taking an active part in all data quality-related audits
• Provide data specific technical guidance to MTN SA’s business units to ensure that data is interpreted correctly 

Collaboration / Coordination 

• Collaborate with process and system owners to research and resolve the root cause(s) of enterprise data quality issues through in-depth data quality analysis and develop data quality monitoring tools
• Collaborate with other functions to drive and where applicable enhance the compliance of data quality management
• Liaise with the relevant areas of the business to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood
• Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders, provide progress reports to Senior Manager: Data Governance on Data Privacy Compliance

Governance 

Tactical meetings

• Set up / contribute in adhoc and operational meetings 
• Lead the agenda for tactical meetings
• Participate in any other cross-functional tactical meetings

Escalations

• Provide input and recommendations / escalate serious issues to ensure all actions are aligned to the business plan and strategic intent
• Contribute towards generating solutions to issues that require formal resolution with regards to data quality, governance and compliance 

Reporting

• Review and submit reports for the General Manager (GM) addressing periodic activities, data compliance, feedback and key departmental results to facilitate decision making
• Prepare reports on operational performance and detailed reports on specific projects when required 

Education:

• Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree in Engineering, Computer Science, BCom Information Management, Information Systems, BCom IT Management, Informatics, Bachelor of Information Science, or any IT related course.
• Fluent in English 

Experience 

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an area of specialisation with experience in supervising/ managing others
• Experience working in a medium to large organisation
