Lead/Senior BI Developer

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Lead BI Developer to join our Business Intelligence department. This permanent role involves working closely with the BI Manager and reporting through to our Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will lead agile practices, including running scrum meetings and serving as an Agile Master, while focusing on the development and support of Qlik projects, primarily Qlik Sense, for the Chubb Overseas General group. Additionally, expertise in Power BI is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate scrum meetings, ensuring agile methodologies are effectively implemented and followed.
  • Serve as the Agile Master, guiding the team in agile best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and support Qlik Sense applications, encompassing requirements gathering, analysis, design, ETL, programming, testing, training, handover, and ongoing support.
  • Design, maintain, and build solutions using Qlik Sense and Power BI, with the ability to query and analyse data.
  • Optimize and redesign existing Qlik solutions, sharing knowledge with team members.
  • Act as a key point of contact for BI solutions, nurturing stakeholder relationships and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Follow a change release process, supporting projects from analysis to post-production support.
  • Train users and present solutions to business partners.
  • Produce user documentation and technical documentation for team use.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Subject-matter expert in Qlik application development and Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience in leading agile teams.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to changing stakeholder requirements.
  • Experience in a business-facing role, with strong customer management skills.
  • UX/UI design ability, incorporating corporate branding.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively through requirements and issues.
  • Experience with Cognos Analytics and Qlik Sense APIs is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, JavaScript, SQL, Microsoft Azure, Databricks and Snowflake is advantageous. 
  • Preferably QlikSense certified in either Designer & Developer.
  • A good understanding of IT concepts, data, servers, data layouts, and relationships.

Required Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate for this role would meet as many as possible of the following requirements: 

  • 7+ years of experience within a similar field
  • Subject-matter expert in Qlik application development 
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly and constantly changing stakeholder requirements, delivering with Agile methodology. 
  • Have strong analytical and interpersonal skills. 
  • Be able to work independently and proactively through requirements and issues. 
  • Experience in a business-facing role. 
  • UX / UI design ability, incorporating corporate branding 
  • Be a great teammate with a flexible, positive approach to work.
