Data Analyst/BI Developer

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • You will work on a small dynamic team that provides strategic know how through Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Visualization platforms to deliver quality reports for State & Federal Agencies.
  • Apply an understanding of business metrics and a commercial mindset to perform Data analysis, find patterns, data anomalies and review.
  • Work closely with functional teams to understand requirements regarding solutions to ensure data quality. Collaborate on definition, development, and maintenance of standards and processes.
  • Develop models and create templates to ensure timely and accurate deliverables, data integrity, efficient workflow, reusability, and automation. Create dashboards using workspace advance to facilitate drill up/down and slicing/dicing of data. Produce Ad Hoc reports with a turnaround time based on business needs.
  • Support continuous improvement and automation in BI solutions and processes.
  • Support client data exchange and integration needs by leveraging technical expertise in database applications, ETL processes, and automation. Apply knowledge of upstream and downstream Enterprise applications to support dashboard development lifecycle discipline

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent

Required Experience:

  • Six (6) years of industry experience with focus on SQL, PL/SQL , SQL-PL in DB2
  • Three (3) experience with a BI tool (Cognos is preferred)
  • Two (2) years of experience in design/data modeling for Data Mart/Data Warehouse
  • Two (2) years of Healthcare Industry experience

● Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of OLAP business intelligence applications
  • Strong understanding of reporting and database environments, processes, and associated applications
  • Competencies leveraging data visualization tools for senior management and enterprise data visualization
  • Ability to translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement required reports and dashboards
  • Knowledge of  RTC/ELM or similar tools
  • Competencies in database architectures such as relative, star and snowflake schemas.
  • Competencies in DB2 (or other RDBMS)
  • Level 3 Procedural Languages (i.e.: ANSI, SQL, PL/SQL)
  • Writing complex SQL queries, SQL PL procedures in IBM DB2 environment.
  • Competencies with UNIX/LINUX operating systems

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, writing/documentation, communication, organizational, and time management skills 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills, including mapping of business need or issue to development of application requirements or procedural initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of reporting and database environments, processes, and associated applications.
  • Well-developed knowledge of operational systems, processes and budgeting/forecasting concepts and activities
  • Proven ability to ensure effective forms of documentation essential for support of overall technical and user needs.
  • Ability to work in complex matrix organization

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 11.1.7 suite of tools or higher
  • Hands-on experience with data architecture and data analysis skill sets
  • Familiarity with PMI standards and practice
  • Experience authoring and maintaining reports using the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 11.1.7 suite of tools or higher against relational, dimensional, and transactional databases

The likely salary range for this position is $96,034 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
