As our Data Governance Manager, you'll play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining data governance policies to ensure efficient and compliant data management. You'll collaborate with various departments to ensure data is owned, accurate, accessible, and protected, contributing to informed decision-making and compliance with legal regulations. What will you do?

  • Policy and Compliance: Align with international standards, create and maintain local policies for compliant data management, and ensure their implementation at NN Romania. Set and ensure compliance with data quality policies and assess the effectiveness of the data quality framework.
  • Guidance and Best Practices: Provide direction on data governance methodology, promote a data-driven culture, and offer guidance for key data roles. Ensure all stakeholders understand and respect their data governance responsibilities.
  • Implementation and Optimization: Implement and maintain data governance practices and tools. Create and maintain business glossaries, data directories, and document data flows. Provide continuous support for data governance processes and optimize them.
  • Committee and Project Management: Organize and chair the Data Governance Committee, ensure decisions are approved and centralized. Oversee data governance projects and initiatives, ensuring timely resolution of data-related issues. Collaborate with IT to integrate data governance tools and technologies.
  • Training and Promotion: Develop and deliver training programs on data governance policies and standards. Promote data literacy and data governance policies across the organization.
  • Team Management: Coordinate activities of Data Stewards and Data Quality Analysts. Standardize and align the team's way of working. Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. Develop recruitment and training plans to meet business requirements.

What professional requirements should you prove?

  • A bachelor's degree in fields such as Economics, Computer Science, or Data Science.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or a related field, with extensive exposure to various categories of people, both horizontally and vertically within the organization.
  • Having previously worked on either establishing a data governance framework or expanding/maintaining a successfully implemented one, as an individual contributor on at least one occasion.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and connect all parts of the organization (IT, business, operations, compliance, legal, etc.)
  • Ability to lead, coordinate and offer guidance for other key roles within the data governance framework (data stewards)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Got a certification in Data Governance/Data Management? That's a big plus!
  • Familiarity with the financial services sector (insurance/pensions) represents an advantage.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced PC skills (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management standards such as DAMA-DMBOK.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools or platforms like Collibra, Talend, etc.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop.
  • Comfort in sharing knowledge.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills.
