Your role

You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Data Science and actively contribute to the success of the digital transformation at ZEISS. As part of our growing Business Data Analytics Team. Working in a field of rapidly developing technologies, you will ensure that the team is prepared for the challenges ahead of us. As a visionary and leader, you will identify the relevant mid-term challenges. You will provide advice, support and development in strategically relevant model development with a strong focus on scalability and operationalizing. You will actively develop, coach and build up our Data Science talents, train the team on emerging technologies and contribute to the exchange of knowledge within the organization.

Your profile
  • An excellent university degree (PhD is a plus) in natural science, mathematics, computer science, engineering or similar

  • At least 5+ years of professional experience in a data modeling, algorithm development or data science role

  • At least 2+ years of experience in a leadership role or Program management responsibilities in a similar capacity

  • Understanding of Time Series Analysis and Forecasting methods (e.g. SARIMA, Holt-Winters, Prophet, LSTM and other deep learning techniques)

  • Experience in machine learning research (e.g. federated learning, weak supervised model dev., model robustness, ensemble techniques)

  • Practical experience in applying best practices in model development and deployment (e.g. Azure Machine Learning Service/ MLflow, Optuna/HyperOpt, ensemble techniques)

  • A background in software development (python) and familiarity with agile software development (e.g. git, Azure DevOps)

  • Experience with development of data solutions in a cloud environment (e.g. Microsoft Azure)

  • The ability to understand customer needs and solve real-world problems

  • Strong communication, presentation and project management skills

  • Fluent English and advanced German language skills
