Your Opportunity
Design, develop, and implement high-performance bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines for analyzing NGS data, including read processing, alignment, variant calling, quality control and reporting.
Conduct all aspects of algorithm and pipeline development work including design, implementation, testing, verification, and continuous optimization to ensure accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
Collaborate with biologists, data scientists, and other software engineers to understand the specific requirements, constraints and other Roche systems to ensure seamless communication and integration
Support internal users, evaluate use cases, propose, evaluate and implement solutions
Create documentation for algorithms and workflows, visualization of data and present across teams to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure reproducibility.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and learning within the team.
Who you are
You have a Master or higher degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics or other quantitative fields.
You have over 6 years of experience in Bioinformatics
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and/or C++ with proven experience in developing bioinformatics algorithms for NGS data analysis.
Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and libraries.
Hands-on experience with workflow management systems such as Nextflow, WDL, etc., and proficiency with microservices architecture including the use of Docker and container orchestration.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred:
Experience with software development tools such as Github, PyTest, CI/CD etc.
Experience with cloud infrastructure AWS, Google Cloud is a plus
experience with GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL) and optimizing bioinformatics workflows for GPU acceleration.
