Join us to develop quantum computing algorithms and fill the connection between these algorithms and their applications! The job opening is for either Amsterdam, Stuttgart or Rome.

We are looking for a Quantum Algorithm and Application Engineer(s) who will join our Commercial team and act as a crucial link to our R&D department connecting business and technology. The role(s) principally involves the development of quantum algorithms for various use cases and/or the translation of applications into effective quantum algorithms.

What will I be doing?

As a Quantum Applications Engineer:

  • You will close the gap between theoretical algorithms and real-world applications of quantum computers
  • You will identify users and use-cases that quantum algorithms can be applied to, and support both computer design and commercial activities to connect them
  • You will develop and test prototype applications to demonstrate the utility of quantum computers (built by QuiX)
  • You will educate our public-facing staff about the use-cases for quantum computing, supporting them in their mission to establish quantum computing
  • You will participate occasionally in discussions with stakeholders, customers, and software companies to develop applications and potential solutions to socially- and economically-relevant problems
  • You will work to understand the advantages and disadvantages of photonic quantum computing for the above

What skills do I need?

  • PhD related to quantum applications or algorithms or Master’s degree in (theoretical) physics, applied mathematics, computer science or related subject with a focus on quantum computation.
  • At least 3 years working experience or PhD in quantum applications and algorithms.
  • Good knowledge of quantum algorithms and quantum computation (knowledge or previous experience of measurement-based quantum computing and algorithms is highly desirable).
  • Domain knowledge on areas where quantum computers are expected to have applications (finance, materials, life science)
  • Knowledgeable on some main mathematical problems like Quantum Machine Learning, Variational Quantum Eigensolvers, QUBO.
  • Programming skills, in particular Python, Qiskit, CirQ, or similar tools.
  • Ability to work self-initiated and independently, experience in research
  • A proven track record in quantum physics and in particular quantum information
  • Willingness to work in collaboration with business teams, customers and external partners
  • Good communication skills in explaining on different levels of details your findings
  • Ability to quickly read through quantum computing algorithm and application papers
  • Willingness to learn and keep your skills and knowledge fresh and are always eager to learn more
  • Passion for and deep knowledge of applications of quantum computing in the industry
  • Business development experience would be good to have.
  • High degree of creativity and pro-activeness
