Role Description

Givebutter is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our Growth team, focusing on acquisition. You'll own experiments that directly impact our nonprofit acquisition funnel and activation rates. Working in a high-tempo experimentation culture, you'll ship fast and learn from real user behavior.

Why join Givebutter’s Engineering team?

  • Democracy of code – We value equal contributions from all engineers and foster an environment of open discussion on architecture and ideas.

  • Focus time – We keep meetings to a minimum. Engineers control their calendars and can block uninterrupted time for focused work.

  • Automated CI/CD – Our build and deployment processes are fully automated and hands-off, allowing engineers to focus on problem-solving through code.

  • Mission-driven, full stop – You’ll be working with inspiring nonprofits, charities, and organizations that are making a positive impact around the world.

Why join Growth Engineering?

  • Direct business impact – Your code directly impacts the number of nonprofits we help succeed.

  • Experimentation at scale – Run A/B tests that impact hundreds of thousands of users.

  • High autonomy – Join a small team with meaningful input on product and company direction.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship experiments that improve our key business metrics.

  • Collaborate with PM, Design, and Marketing to rapidly prototype and test new user experiences.

  • Implement robust A/B testing infrastructure and ensure rigor in experiment design.

  • Build full-stack features spanning React, Laravel, and data integrations.

  • Evaluate and apply AI and machine learning tools – such as LLMs, recommendation systems, or predictive analytics – to drive innovation in product development.

  • Analyze experiment results using SQL and analytics tools to derive actionable insights.

  • Champion growth engineering best practices while maintaining code quality and system reliability.

  • Perform peer code reviews, ensuring that code meets acceptance criteria, adheres to our code guidelines, and follows engineering best practices.

  • Contribute to growth team’s experimentation roadmap and technical strategy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Engineering experience working in-house to build web applications at scale

  • Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React

  • Experience with PHP and MVC frameworks (Laravel preferred but not required)

  • Experience with A/B testing, feature flags, and experimentation platforms

  • Comfort with SQL and data analysis to measure experiment impact

  • Track record of working on cross-functional teams with Product and Design

  • Experience debugging code and applications in production

  • Ability to balance speed of iteration with code quality and technical debt

Nice to have

  • Experience at high-growth B2B SaaS or consumer products (100k+ MAUs)

  • Familiarity with analytics platforms (e.g., PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap)

  • Experience with or interest in growth metrics, funnels, and conversion optimization

  • Background in marketing technology or conversion rate optimization

  • Experience with modern deployment practices and AWS infrastructure
