What will you be doing?
As a Data Scientist at Circana, you will be part of a talented international team to define and execute data science solutions. You will support data science aspects of the end to end media product development cycle. This includes exploratory data analysis, developing and implementing the end-to-end modeling platform, statistical methodology development and empirical experiment design in enabling/testing media product features design using general scripting languages, for both proof of concept and productionization application. You will also work with big databases of different sources and assemble them into analysis and insights exploration ready format.
Job Responsibilities
- Advanced proficiency/knowledge in causal inference related statistical methodologies and ability to independently develop statistical methods to isolate impact due to stimulus (such as advertising impact on purchase behavior) in experimental designs, randomized control trials, matching estimators, difference in difference, counterfactual analysis.
- Proven competency in Python or R development and end-to-end system implementation
- Proficiency with linear statistical models, Bayesian algorithms, machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling and isolating impacts due to covariates.
- Computing variances (both conditional and unconditional) on samples and developing methodologies to compute goodness of fit for linear statistical models and machine learning models.
- Estimating biases and variances inherent in sample-based methods, Sound understanding of resampling techniques including bootstrap, delete-d jacknife, subsampling.
- Hands on experience in automating these statistical methodologies using Python or R.
- Excellent business sense and client results interpretation focus.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; Trusted; Educates on analytical methods, shapes thinking and influences the decisions
- Structured approach to developing and integrating complex components into a modular framework.
Requirements
- 4+ years’ experience of Python/R development. Strong proficiency for statistical analysis, data visualization, and statistical modeling. Familiarity with packages like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib in Python, dplyr, ggplot2, tidyr in R.
- SQL: Ability to write complex queries, perform joins, aggregations, subqueries, window functions, and optimize queries for performance.
- Data extraction and manipulation: Skill in retrieving and integrating data from multiple sources and formats.
- Deep understanding of statistical concepts, including descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, hypothesis testing (t-tests, ANOVA, chi-squared), regression analysis (linear, logistic), time series analysis, A/B testing.
- Solid understanding of various machine learning algorithms: linear/logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, support vector machines, gradient boosting, clustering like K-means, dimensionality reduction techniques (PCA).
- Able to build and convey impactful insights drawing from multiple data sources. Skilled at explaining technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.
- A bachelors’ degree in Statistics, Econometrics or related quantitative field; Masters or PhD preferred.
