The EVP, Chief AI Officer is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of all data analysis activities for R&D groups, clinical trials, and external collaborations, including the research and development of new analytical methodologies, the implementation of innovative technologies for big data analysis, and interfacing with external partners. Partnering with IT, the SVP, Chief AI Officer, will also deliver top-notch technologies within High-Performance Cluster (HPC) infrastructure.
The Interim COO will provide leadership and strategic vision to the organization. They will bring operational, managerial, and administrative procedures, reporting structures, and operational controls to the company. The COO will effectively communicate and foster growth among the executive team and all employees. This is a vital leadership role that will drive results, spur growth, and increase the overall efficiency of the corporation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations:
- Direct management of the administrative personnel and facilities.
- Provide management to staff and leadership to the organization that aligns with the company’s business plan and overall strategic vision.
- Assist executive team members in creating, growing, and building a world-class, industry-leading organization.
- Drive company results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the CFO, CEO, and other key executive team members.
- Partner with the CFO to achieve favorable financial results with respect to sales, profitability, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, systems, reporting, and controls.
- Set challenging and realistic goals for growth, performance, and profitability.
- Create effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.
- Provide accurate and timely reports outlining the operational condition of the company.
- Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
- Works with other C-level executives on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation programs.
- Work closely with the senior management team to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems, and company policies all designed to foster growth, profitability, and efficiencies within the company.
- Motivate and encourage employees at all levels as one of the key leaders in the company including but not limited to professional staff, management-level employees, and executive leadership team members.
- Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with clients, vendors, banks, investors, and all other professional business relationships.
- Foster a growth-oriented, positive, and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

AI & Data Science:
- Work with management to define and execute company goals and objectives.
- As a member of the management team, develop and execute corporate and/or organizational policies of the Analytics and IT departments.
- Oversee the activities of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups or service areas through senior managers who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas pertaining to AI, Machine Learning, and IT.
- Implement strategy into product by using internal and external resources given the company business objectives.
- Supervise the Data Science division within their development and analysis tasks, ensuring the optimal flow of all activities, and guaranteeing timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
- Oversee IT Department and ensure timely execution of corporate objectives, IT service and IT deliverables to the Company.
- Supervise the administration of company’s HPC environment, and the research/deployment of new technologies when necessary. Represent the Company and the Analytics Division internally and externally.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology or related field with 12-15+ years of relevant industry experience.
- A minimum of 15 years of management experience and experience leading organizations in life sciences including drug development.
- Proven track record of using Machine Learning and/or Probabilistic Inference AI to extract actional insights from Pharmaceutical, Clinical, and RWD/E data.
- Proven ability to find creative and practical solutions to complex problems.
- Demonstrated success in working and building relationships with active and potential customers.
- Solid understanding of scalable algorithms, R or Python programming languages, and relational/non-relational databases is necessary, hands-on experience is preferable.
- Experience in Linux and Big Data technologies.
- Demonstrated planning and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a superior and proven track record of technical and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate attention to detail and excellent record-keeping.
