Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice is seeking an entry level actuarial analyst to join our team. This position provides opportunities for professional growth and technical skill development in the healthcare actuarial field. What You Will Do

 Actuarial Analysts perform data analysis using Excel, SAS, and proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas, such as Commercial / ACA, Medicare, Behavioral Health, Risk Adjustment, Dental and more. 

Within a project team, consultants, project managers, analysts, and interns coordinate their efforts to deliver client reports and deliverables. Consultants are responsible for building relationships with clients, directing projects, and presenting results. Associate Actuaries, who act as project managers, work directly with analysts by reviewing work, answering questions, and developing client correspondence. Analysts are responsible for the majority of the technical work, which may include analyzing data, completing actuarial calculations, developing, and utilizing actuarial models, and implementing software solutions. Analysts work alongside all levels of a project team while learning and expanding upon various actuarial concepts and computer programs, such as Microsoft Excel, VBA, Databricks, and SAS. Analysts are also called upon to help implement business development efforts.

We feel progression with actuarial exams is important, and as such study time is supported and expected. Study time, materials, and exam fees are paid for by Milliman for actuarial staff.

What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or another major with quantitative course work
  • At least one or more society of Actuaries exams passed
  • Solid understanding of basic actuarial concepts
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Some knowledge of a statistical analysis language (SAS, R, SQL, or Python)

The Team

Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice consists of actuarial professionals, healthcare consultants, IT, and administrative professionals.

We have made the decision to hire primarily at the entry level, and we have carefully designed a program to help entry level analysts through their career path. Through our manager program, all staff members are paired with a dedicated manager to help support and celebrate the growth of each staff member along their career path.

Additionally, our exam program includes paid study time and materials. This program provides support and monitors progress on exam preparation. Our employees are high achievers and demonstrate excellent exam success.

Location

The Mountain Gulf Health Practice operates under one management group virtually across five locations – Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco. This is a remote position.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $60,300 - $126,840. For candidates residing in:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $66,330 - $116,270
  • New York City, Newark, San Jose, or San Francisco the salary range is $72,360 - $126,840 
  • All other locations the salary range is $60,300 - $105,700

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
