Data Engineer

What awaits you 

• Design and implement new ETL processes and adapting current ETL processes to accommodate changes 
• You write and maintain documentation regarding stored data, data flow and method of processing so our consumers know how to consume the delivered data (e.g. data glossary) 
• Close collaboration with the business analyst and domain owners on functional and data requirements to enhance data models 
• Responsible for the definition, planning, management, execution and clear reporting of BI development deliverables (not limited to software), in collaboration with the appropriate stakeholders This includes topics such as: Usability, Correctness, Completeness/Scope, Performance, Scalability, Robustness, Delivery speed of changes to production, Security 
• You are responsible for maintaining, improving, cleaning and transforming the data from different sources and databases (i.e. normalization, standardization and mapping of attributes) 
• Perform root cause analysis and resolution of issues with e.g. reports and data model 
• Support and pro-actively instruct knowledge transfer to relevant staff by providing experience and expertise on BI Development, efficient ways-of-working and best practices (i.e. guidance and assistance/ data stewardship/ governance)  

What should you bring along  

• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field 
• Minimum 1-3 years of Experience with databases (preferably PostgreSQL) 
• Technically experienced in analytical SQL and PLSQL development of an ETL application 
• Experienced in data warehouse concepts such as data modelling, historization, integration of data, business views on data and dimensional modelling is a plus
• Experience in technical concepts of ETL processing, extraction from sources, set based processing, data cleansing and transformation, and database performance tuning is a plus
• Cnceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in researching and analyzing data and data quality issues 
• Excellent communicator, building bridges through an attitude of active listening 
• Willingness to support releases and operational maintenance with some experience in command-line tools 
• Knowledge of a data visualization tool (preferably Tableau) 
• Excellent English verbal and written skills 
• German communication skills will be a plus
