Job Title: Sr Power BI Designer/DeveloperLocation: Fully Remote (U.S. based candidates)Type: 1099/C2C Independent ContractorPay Rate: $90-110/hr (Negotiable)Start Date: ASAP

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Power BI Designer & Developer to lead the design, development, and strategic direction of our enterprise data visualization and analytics initiatives. This role is ideal for a candidate who not only excels in Power BI development but also brings thought leadership in data storytelling, AI integration, and business intelligence strategy.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Power BI Development & Design
    • Design and develop advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that deliver actionable insights.
    • Optimize data visualizations for performance, usability, and storytelling impact.
    • Implement row-level security, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
  • Data Strategy & AI Integration
    • Lead the integration of AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI) into analytics workflows.
    • Collaborate with data engineers and scientists to embed predictive and generative AI capabilities into dashboards.
    • Champion the use of AI to enhance data discovery, anomaly detection, and decision support.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Partner with business units to gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate needs into scalable BI solutions.
    • Conduct workshops and training sessions to promote data literacy and self-service analytics.
  • Governance & Best Practices
    • Establish and enforce Power BI development standards, naming conventions, and documentation protocols.
    • Contribute to the enterprise data governance framework and metadata management.
  • Thought Leadership
    • Stay current with industry trends in BI, data visualization, and AI.
    • Present at internal forums and external conferences to share innovations and success stories.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and SQL.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Azure ML) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools and frameworks, especially within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior analysts.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate
