Research Scientist Intern (Computational Biology/Structural Biology/CADD - AML-AI-for-Science) - 2025 Summer/Fall (PhD)

Responsibilities

The AI for Science team has been focusing on tackling challenges in natural sciences, including biology, physics, and materials, with computational tools such as Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, High-throughput Computation. Our goal is to create breakthroughs in natural science with new methodology and help the world.

We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2025. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. This position would be ideal for machine learning researchers with expertise in CV, NLP, generative AI or computational biology. A background in biology is beneficial but not essential.

Internships at ByteDance aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. Responsibilities:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in computational biology;
- Collaborate closely with team members from diverse backgrounds to tackle challenging biological problems;
- Participate in the development and scaling of cutting-edge models for tasks such as complex structure/conformation generation, molecule design, and unified multimodal modeling of sequence, structure, function, and properties.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a PhD in computational biology, structural biology, or computer-aided drug design (CADD);
- Extensive experience in solving biological problems related to biomolecule structure prediction and design using computational tools and domain knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Industrial experience in structural biology or drug discovery.
- Proven track record in developing new computational methods for biology or drug discovery.
- Proficiency with tools in structural biology, molecular dynamics, or quantum chemistry.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Hourly) - Campus Intern

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $72- $72. ​

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year).​
