About the opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst to join our Enterprise Architecture and Data Governance team, playing a critical role in CSPD's strategic Data Governance and Protection initiative. This position is accountable for ensuring data management across our systems is accurate, timely, secure, documented and continuously improved whilst supporting the implementation of our comprehensive Data Governance Framework across 80+ schools serving 40,000+ students and 5,000+ employees.

*This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension*

Key Accountabilities:

Data Governance Framework Implementation:

  • Support the development and implementation of CSPD's Data Governance Framework, particularly for critical data domains (student/family and employee data)
  • Assist in establishing data ownership, stewardship roles, and data working groups across the organisation
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data catalogues, data lineage documentation, and data quality standards

Enterprise Data Architecture Support:

  • Work with the Head of Enterprise Architecture and Data Governance Lead to develop data architecture standards aligned with industry best practices
  • Support the documentation of data assets, data flows, and system integrations across Microsoft and Google technology stacks
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing data governance toolsets and platforms

Data Analysis and Quality Management:

  • Identify, prepare and interpret trends and patterns in data sets with a focus on data quality metrics and governance compliance
  • Construct forecasts, dashboards and reports based on business and market data to support data-driven decision making
  • Analyse information using statistical/data analysis techniques, developing models for data quality monitoring and governance reporting
  • Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, data quality metrics, and compliance with data classification guidelines

Stakeholder Engagement and Support:

  • Provide guidance and support to schools and business units through data governance project initiatives and BAU activities
  • Work with internal and external consultants to ensure design and construction of databases and data warehouse applications meet current and future business needs whilst adhering to governance standards
  • Support change management activities related to data governance implementation across CSPD schools
  • Facilitate training and awareness sessions on data governance policies and procedures

Data Lifecycle and Compliance:

  • Ensure ongoing data integrity across systems, reporting any data inconsistencies through established governance channels
  • Support the implementation of data lifecycle management processes from creation to disposal
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with privacy regulations and CSPD data classification requirements
  • Contribute to data attestation and control processes for privacy, security, and quality

Typical experience and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3+ years experience in data analysis, data governance, or data management roles
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks, data architecture principles, and data lifecycle management
  • Experience with data cataloguing, data lineage, and metadata management
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, statistical analysis, and data visualisation
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security principles
  • Experience working with Microsoft and/or Google technology stacks

Highly Desirable:

  • Previous experience in education sector or large multi-site organisations
  • Certification in data governance, data management, or enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF)
  • Experience with data governance tools and platforms
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in education
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies
