Job Overview: 

We are seeking a reporting & data engineer to support our data engineering and analytics team with a heavy focus on our financial and core business performance data.  The purpose of this role is to ensure that data products are designed, created, and delivered in a timely manner with high quality.   

 

The ideal candidate for the role of Data Engineer should possess a background in data & business analysis with Finance reporting specifically with SSRS & Power BI and MSSQL within a financial forecasting and accounting data a context.  Extensive experience in report development & tool administration, SQL scripting, data modeling and version control.   Python programming, Snowflake and Databricks data platforms, SQL Server, data lakes and schema change management and project management skills are a plus.  Must have customer/business facing softskills. 

 

This role is remote but may require occasional travel to the Corporate office in Denver, CO.  The position reports to the Data Manager. 

 

Compensation Range:  $80,000 - $110,000 Base + Bonus  

Location: The successful candidate must live in one of the listed States: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, N.Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, S.Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington.  

Due to Payroll compliance, we will be unable to hire anyone in a State not listed. 

Visa sponsorship is not currently available. Only permanent residents and US citizens will be considered.  

 

Principal Job Duties: 

  • Primary skills required will include advanced SQL, data-based python (not SW apps) coding and ETL development in any mainstream tool.  Preference for experience with Databricks, Snowflake, MSSQL, ADF, and Azure.  Bonus skills are experience with SSRS, PowerBI, MSSQL administration and experience migrating databases/reporting applications. 

  • Work with business stakeholders on collecting reporting requirements for migration and translate those requirements into technical migration strategy.    

  • Perform technical research, data profiling, and testing of data assumptions in data sources and in current data products.  

  • Creatively provide analytic solutions that will solve business problems as it relates to the reporting environment, enabling timely and accurate analytics and explore data efficiently and quickly.  

  • Explain data concepts, reports, KPIs, and other technical subjects in business terms.  

  • Document development standards, KPI calculations, business glossary terms, table diagrams, and other subjects related to NSA data or reports.  

  • Cross-functional collaboration between stakeholders and data engineers to provide requirements for new dataset requests, modifications to existing ones and resolve any existing data issues.  

  • Document existing MSSQL ETL process, work with architect to create migration strategy into Snowflake. 

  • Perform dimensional data modeling and design database objects for ease of access, performance, and consistency is a strong plus. 

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent related work experience. 

  • 4+ years working with mainstream ETL tools. 

  • 4+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server; specifically, the ability to reverse engineer existing data processes. 

  • 2+ years working with SSRS, driving requirements gathering, extensive stakeholder interactions, defining; experience migration reporting environments a plus.  

  • 2+ years of technical experience in data warehouse development, design, and modeling. 

  • Extensive understanding of reporting & analytic testing frameworks and passionate about documentation. 

  • 1-2 years working with Power BI. 

  • Experience working in a data warehouse environment that is subject to external auditing practices 

  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts in data warehousing 

  • Experience manipulating/extracting/working with data via Python and extracting data from REST APIs are a major plus. 

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to document software requirements and functionality for various audiences is required.  Ability & willingness to own delivery of your own work product.
