Marketing and Advertising analytics are an important and growing field that require a
sophisticated understanding of marketing, advertising, data structures and data analysis
capabilities.
This research project is a very exciting cutting-edge project at the forefront of advertising
experimentation and machine learning in a field setting.
The skills and exposure acquired from the project will be relevant to almost any company that
executes digital marketing at scale.
The Professors:
Professor Kirthi Kalyanam, Santa Clara University, Professor Sridhar Narayanan Stanford
University, Professor Navdeep Sahni Stanford University and Professor Guenter Hitsch,
University of Chicago
The Research Assistant will work Primarily with Professor Kirthi Kalyanam and Professor Sridhar
Narayanan.
The Professors are world renowned and leading edge thinkers in the field of digital and
quantative marketing and economics. They all subscribe to and are trained in “The Chicago
Tradition” of rigorous data driven research.
The Research Topic:
Retargeting of Display Advertising. The Professors have completed a field experiment with
company for the retargeting of display advertising.
Data Sets
The professors have collected various types of data on advertising reponse and site traffic. The
data are somewhat structured and in various locations.
The Task:
1. Consolidate all data sets and sources on github.
2. Create relevant documentation
3. Start running additional analysis using R and / or Python.
Required Skills:
1. Intellectual curiosity
2. Prior data analysis experience in an industry setting.
3. Working knowledge of Git hub.
4. Working knowledge of R and Python.
5. Working knowledge of AWS and other environments.
