About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Quantitative UX Researcher to help us understand how people use and find value in OpenAI’s products. You’ll lead rigorous, end-to-end research that drives product direction and shapes how we measure user attitudes and behavior.
This is a highly cross-functional role, ideal for someone who blends survey science expertise with product intuition, and thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Shape product strategy through research. Lead end-to-end quant studies that inform key product decisions and uncover open questions.
Design rigorous methodologies. Build surveys, sampling logic, and statistical analyses to answer complex product questions at scale.
Operationalize measurement. Build repeatable systems to track user attitudes and behaviors over time, helping teams monitor product health and make informed decisions.
Uncover actionable insights. Use segmentation, correlation modeling, and behavioral analysis to surface what drives user behavior.
Build research infrastructure. Create reusable pipelines, QA processes, and dashboards that elevate research quality across the org.
Collaborate deeply. Work closely with PMs, Designers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to translate insights into clear product direction.
Communicate clearly. Synthesize diverse quantitative data to provide clear insights and recommendations, communicating results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences to drive product decisions.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Bring 7+ years of experience conducting quantitative UX research in a fast-paced, product-focused environment
Are an expert in survey methodology—comfortable with questionnaire design, sampling, weighting, and survey deployment at scale
Have built and maintained research infrastructure that scales (e.g., trackers, QA systems, dashboards)
Know how to connect insights to product strategy, roadmap decisions, and business impact
Have strong technical skills in SQL, Python, R, or similar, and are confident with inferential statistics and experimental design
Enjoy solving ambiguous, high-stakes problems and helping teams prioritize where to invest
Communicate with clarity, care, and strategic focus
