The role

As the Technical Lead of Fallback & Redundancy, you will lead a small development team focused on integrating functions to maintain safe system behaviour under faults or degradation. These include minimal risk manoeuvres (MRMs), functional safety cross-checks, and software redundancies, integrated with the overall vehicle software architecture.

We are looking for a strong technical leader with cross-functional integration experience to lead development in these areas.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the Fallback & Redundancy roadmap, working with internal stakeholders, customers, and other engineering teams to align on delivery timelines.
  • Lead a small team which prioritises effectively, anticipates the needs of the business, and maintains a culture of impact.
  • Define and document system architecture designs related to Fallback & Redundancy.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development and Production Software teams, as many of these functions will cross team boundaries.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives through effective communication, working through organisational boundaries when necessary to deliver on company goals and priorities.
  • Lead implementation and execution on these designs.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Technical Lead at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++/Rust for high-performance Linux systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in software architecture design.
  • Able to articulate technical concepts clearly, foster collaboration, and tackle complex challenges with a hand-on, solution-oriented approach.
  • Track record of promoting software engineering best practices and excellence within the team.
  • Experience leading small engineering teams.
  • Experience with roadmap planning, stakeholder management, requirements gathering and alignment with peers towards milestones and deliverables.

Desirable

  • Experience developing and deploying autonomous vehicle software.
  • Experience with embedded systems.
  • Knowledge or experience with ML development.
  • Knowledge or experience with ASPICE, DriveOS, QNX, or AutoSAR.
  • Experience developing ADAS functions.

This is a full-time role based in our office in London.  At Wayve we want the best of all worlds so we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships and learning, and time spent working from home.   We operate core working hours so you can determine the schedule that works best for you and your team.

We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences and that not everyone will meet all of the requirements listed above. If you’re passionate about self-driving cars and think you have what it takes to make a positive impact on the world, we encourage you to apply.
