AI Research Scientist - Retrieval Augmented Generation

The Generative AI Organization at Meta is seeking AI Research Scientists to join our team and work on the next generation of Meta AI. As a Research Scientist of our team, you will play a critical role in building Meta AI. We have the opportunity to help people everywhere get stuff done better and faster. Earlier we launched Meta AI in our chat apps, bringing our assistant to more people. We will be building retrieval augmented generation that is social and more personal. As an Applied Research Scientist in Generative AI, you have the opportunity to help push state of the art research, build industry leading models, and bring them to products to impact billions of users.AI Research Scientist - Retrieval Augmented Generation Responsibilities

• 1. Perform research tackling unsolved real-world problems and push SOTA Retrieval Augmented Generation
• 2. Design and implement algorithms, train SOTA models and evaluate their performance
• 3. Drive research that can be applied to Meta AI

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence, a related field
• Research experience in one or more of these areas: NLP, speech, machine learning, deep learning, or related fields
• Experience with development and implementation of LLM algorithm/systems and model training
• Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks
• Experience working with machine learning libraries like Pytorch
• Familiar with scripting languages such as Python and shell scripts
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research, and taking the solutions to production
• First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL)
• Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions tradeoffs to determine a path forward
• Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
