The primary focus areas for this role include market research (supporting acquisitions, development, retail, dispositions, and renovations, with analyses at market, submarket, and site/property levels); GIS/geospatial analyses; macroeconomics; investor relations; and the latest data and technologies.
As the Senior Analyst, Strategy & Research, you'll partner with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, trade organizations (e.g., ULI, NMHC), vendors, consultants, and outside functional/technical groups, sharing best practices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist in the underwriting of potential capital allocation decisions (e.g., acquisitions, development, disposition, renovations) from the broader market level to specific sites/properties.
- Work with qualitative and quantitative data (internal and external) to provide analytically-driven insights and solutions, including conducting primary and secondary research.
- Utilize a variety of software tools, including GIS (ESRI/Shapefiles), statistical software (Python/R/Stata), data visualization (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), automation tools (e.g., Alteryx), and internal databases (Snowflake/SQL), to organize, analyze, and present data.
- Support cross-functional projects by leveraging your analytical and communication skills.
- Develop and utilize project management skills to ensure resources are appropriately leveraged, findings are socialized, and deadlines are met.
- Participate in industry and related organizations to learn best practices on analytical techniques, tools/software, and data.
- Interact frequently with numerous internal stakeholders (e.g., Acquisitions, Development, Dispositions, Retail, Renovations, Investment Officers, Capital Projects, Property Management and Operations, Revenue and Business Intelligence, Treasury, Investor Relations, Data and Analytics, and Financial Planning & Analysis departments), as well as external vendors and consultants.
- Ask critical questions, create alternatives, react to changes in the marketplace, and propose options grounded in thorough analysis.
- Support special projects and ad hoc requests, as needed.
- May have direct or indirect managerial responsibilities for an intern or co-op.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Real Estate. Master’s or other advanced degrees preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in real estate, market research, or similar analytical fields preferred.
- Must have experience working in an analytical capacity, preferably for a real estate, consulting, or financial services company.
- Must have excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including a strong understanding of data management, statistical and forecasting techniques, financial concepts, and proficiency in data visualization.
- Experience with data visualization (Tableau, PowerBI), statistical programs (Python, R, Stata), databases (Snowflake, SQL), spatial analysis (GIS, ESRI), and Microsoft Excel are all required.
- Must be detail-oriented, possess good business acumen, and be able to work on numerous projects concurrently while effectively prioritizing workload independently.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Overnight travel, as necessary (approximately 0-10%).
Salary: $108,000 - $132,000 per year; in addition to base salary, a discretionary annual bonus is provided.
The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications.
