Job Description:

The Manager Tech Ops Performance Management is responsible for leading a Team that reviews and analyzes Company and divisional performance data to improve Technical Operations and develop long-term deliverables. This Manager provides proper levels of direction, support, tools, and training for transforming operational data and conducting trusted and appreciated business analytics and performance forecasting. Additionally, they align and work with the data strategy and citizen development business application teams while establishing strong data management and governance practices crucial to Technical Operations' long-term success. This role partners with Technical Operations senior leadership and as a team coordinator for strategically targeted performance reporting and organizational design optimization efforts. The Manager Tech Ops Performance Management is a thought-leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills who is eager to support impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest.

Responsibilities
  • Foster innovation and address team needs, while providing a clear vision and purpose to the work
  • Direct the team in converting raw data into clear, actionable insights and reports
  • Direct the creation of various reports based on customer needs, both scheduled and ad hoc
  • Aid the team in answering business questions using experience, logical reasoning, and analytical skills
  • Support the team in transforming data into compelling, actionable reports that support senior leadership with metrics related to safety, people, compliance, technical reliability, and fleet performance
  • Coordinate multiple team projects simultaneously by way of the agile process and prioritize tasks effectively by the use of scrum sprints
  • Direct the team in integrating reporting with operational groups by connecting metrics across operational VP levels
  • Drive the team to continually enhance performance metrics to align with changing fleet mix, network design, and flight schedule
  • Ability to meet any physical ability requirements listed in this description

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of:
    • Data science methodologies using Python or R
    • Airline operations or maintenance operations to apply data analytics effectively
    • Data governance, data quality, and data integration practices
    • Leverage Agile methodologies and scrum processes
  • Skilled in:
    • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
    • Effective presentation of data-driven insights
    • Managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks effectively
    • Leading and mentoring a team of data analysts and consultants
    • Understanding and meeting stakeholder needs and demonstrating a strong customer service orientation
  • Capacity to:
    • Handle multiple projects and requests and work under tight time constraints to accomplish assignments and projects
    • Foster continuous improvement and innovation within the team
    • Utilize Agile methodologies to help the team plan and execute to set dates without taking the team over capacity
  • Ability to:
    • Communicate complex concepts clearly to stakeholders and team members
    • Speak and present in front of groups
    • Interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights
    • Supervise solutions coded in Python, R, Alteryx, and SQL
    • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
    • Align data insight initiatives with business objectives and strategy
    • Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business improvements
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture
    • Detect changes in performance to confirm or inform the effects of targeted efforts related to the top-tier system metrics of Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Cost
Education:
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelors Degree

Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
    • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
      • Statistical analysis, leveraging algorithms or models, and data visualization techniques
      • Data aggregation, analysis, reporting and forecasting using data-oriented programming languages (such as Python or R) and visualization software (such as Tableau or R Studio)
      • Utilizing analytical platforms (such as Alteryx, SQL, Tableau, R Studio)

Licensing/Certification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SIDA badge and meet all necessary requirements

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $ 134,750 per year to $149,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
