The Amynta Group is seeking an experienced FCAS/ACAS credentialed actuary to lead the Advanced Analytics and Actuarial function to enhance and lead the pricing analyses and advanced analytics of our insurance and warranty businesses. The advanced analytics and actuarial group is a dynamic nine-person team that is building insurance pricing models, reserving models, underwriting performance management tools and predictive models. In addition, this team works closely with MGA and Warranty business leaders to support new business development, insurance carrier relationships and account renewals. From a corporate perspective, the team supports corporate merger and acquisition due diligence, financial reporting and underwriting performance analyses. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on executive who can oversee the team and is excited to take on ad hoc projects and can quickly pivot the team from one project to another while adhering to actuarial standards of practice

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hands-on management of a high performing nine-person team
  • Oversee actuarial work product to ensure high-quality peer-reviewed deliverables including documents and work product retention
  • Regular interaction with business unit leaders and executive management team to ensure deliverables meet business needs and provide actionable guidance
  • Analyze warranty and MGA program profitability and present results to business leaders
  • Lead pricing studies for new and renewal customers and programs
  • Support internal financial statement development around loss sensitive elements of the business including GAAP and purchase GAAP accounting
  • Work with the Mergers & Acquisitions team to perform actuarial due diligence of potential acquisition targets and provide actionable feedback on financial impacts of analyses
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Data team to build and enhance Amynta’s data analytics capabilities
  • Oversee the development of predictive models to enhance and improve client and program pricing
  • Set up and maintain best practices within the advanced analytics and actuarial group as well as with technology team partners
  • Streamline processes and encourage efficiency so that the team focuses on value-added projects that have a positive bottom-line impact on Amynta
  • Train and mentor team to develop actuarial skills and work product independence

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 12-20 years of P&C actuarial experience in reserving, pricing and predictive modeling
  • FCAS designation preferred while ACAS will be considered.
  • Project and team management with experience overseeing quality workproduct and deliverables
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • The ability to self-start, work independently and drive projects forward in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen attention to detail

TECHNICAL

  • Advanced Excel user
  • Experienced SQL user able to independently query and manipulate large data sets to develop business-relevant observations and conclusions and to support decision-making
  • Programming skills – R, Python, SAS or other predictive modeling platforms
  • Experience independently building and interpreting results of Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) is preferred although not required

LOCATION

  • New York proximity (ability to regularly be in NYC without rigid in-office requirement)

COMPENSATION:

$140,000 - $193.000. Total compensation (base salary & any applicable bonus plan) for this role will depend on several factors including relevant experience, credentials, skills, geographical location, and knowledge pertaining to this role and industry.
