An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Manager to join the Business Excellence team. Under the direction of the Director of Analytics and Decision Science with mentoring from the VP of business excellence, you will be a key member of the team and will elevate the impact of our data on strategic business priorities through rigorous data governance and management.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Data Governance to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of business-wide data governance, quality, and management strategies. In this critical role, you will ensure the organization’s data is accurate, reliable, secure, and used effectively to drive business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams to uphold best practices in data management.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement our comprehensive data governance framework, policies, and standards to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization.

  • Build and lead a business-wide data governance council to drive alignment on data priorities and governance initiatives.

  • Define and oversee data ownership and stewardship roles, ensuring accountability and adoption of governance practices.

  • Ensure alignment with Cencora’s data governance strategy and execution

  • Support the digital transformation of data governance technology tools

  • Lead efforts to define and monitor data quality metrics, and work with business and technical teams to resolve data quality issues.

  • Establish systems, processes, and tools to continuously monitor, measure, and improve data quality.

  • Partner with technology teams to implement data quality controls and remediation workflows.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and internal policies related to data usage, privacy, and security.

  • Develop and maintain an enterprise data catalog to support data discovery, lineage tracking, and usage transparency.

  • Collaborate with IT and business units to establish processes for data classification, retention, and archiving.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams, providing guidance on data governance best practices and supporting business objectives.

  • Work closely with data analytics, IT, and business teams to align governance efforts with organizational priorities.

  • Drive cultural change to promote data as a strategic asset and foster a data-driven mindset.

  • Lead and mentor a team of data owners and stewards fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Develop training programs to educate stakeholders on data governance principles and the importance of data quality.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data governance practices.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences industry.

  • Certifications such as DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) and cloud data platforms (e.g.,  Azure).

Minimum skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • 6+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices in a complex organization.

  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data lifecycle management, and data quality tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and drive organizational change.
