At Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars with the aim of competing for world championships each and every year.
Through our Applied Science Division we bring the same vision, skills and vitality to projects for external clients. By applying our passion for performance engineering, we support a diverse range of projects that has included other motorsport series, winter sports, cycling, and elite sailing, as well as the automotive and aerospace sectors.

As a graduate on our scheme, you will take ownership of exciting technical challenges, while also contributing to more complex projects alongside experienced specialists. Initially, your will support our portfolio of customer activities, but later there may be opportunities to move to the Formula One side of our Team.

About the Role:
As a Graduate Performance and Modelling Engineer you will develop mathematical models, simulations and capabilities that deepen our understanding and improve the characteristics of high-performance road vehicles.
Working collaboratively as part of a small team, you will apply your creative and thoughtful nature to a variety of stimulating challenges. By interpreting trends and building insight, you will create novel solutions to real problems. As a valued member of the Performance Group, your ideas will make a real contribution to the success of our Applied Science projects.
Key Accountabilities:
Your responsibilities may include:
Developing and refining vehicle models and simulation tools
Analysing data to optimise performance and support decision making
Advancing the techniques used to understand and evaluate vehicle behaviour, including limit handling
Improving existing processes and introducing new capabilities
Assisting simulator-based vehicle testing

This role is office-based, at our campus in Brackley, United Kingdom.
Technical Skills and Experience
Required:
A master’s degree in a relevant discipline with content that includes dynamics, modelling and software development. Examples could include: Mathematics, Physics, Engineering (eg MMath, MPhys, MEng, MSc)
Experience of vehicle dynamics, mathematical modelling, software development, and / or data analysis, gained through academic projects, extra-curricular activities or working in industry
Desirable:
Familiarity with a multibody package (eg Dymola, Simpack) and MATLAB
Experience with programming languages (eg Python, C++) and ML methods
Candidate profile
Your commitment and diligence have yielded good university results: you have completed, or will soon be completing, a relevant course of undergraduate or post-graduate study and you have a good appreciation of the relevant technical subject matter.
With an open and honest communication style, you relish collaborating in a team setting and enjoy discussing technical concepts. You are equally comfortable working on your own: applying your reflective nature, interpretive skills, attention to detail and dependable judgment to understand complicated problems then propose and evaluate viable solutions in a timely fashion. Looking to fulfil your potential, you are excited about constantly learning while fostering the understanding of others.
A prior interest or involvement in motorsport is not required: we are more interested in your potential to deliver at the highest level, applying your skills and understanding to practical challenges.

Recruitment process:

All assessments will be conducted in English: this is the primary language used across our Team, and you will need a good command of it to succeed in this role.
