TEAMArene is a modern software platform that supports the creation, deployment and continuous improvement of software-defined vehicles. Arene consists of tooling, vehicle software, and a data platform to enable rapid development and reuse, while maintaining safety and security. 
The Arene Vehicle Data Platform is responsible for ingesting, processing, and providing actual and simulated vehicle data to internal and external customers within the Toyota group with one of the main use-cases being the improvement of AD/ADAS functionalities. Building modern AD/ADAS products requires efficient, fast, and cost-effective access to data at petabyte scale, and we partner with AD/ADAS data infrastructure teams in the UK and US to achieve this goal.
You will report to the Team Lead of the designated team under Arene Vehicle Data, and the role is Onsite.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?The Arene Vehicle Data team is looking for engineers who are passionate about building and enhancing a data platform to support the mobility services of the future. The right candidate will have excellent communication skills, solid coding skills, broad knowledge of software engineering in areas such as Data Infrastructure and Warehouses, Data Ingestion, Distributed Databases, Compute Frameworks, and Search.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, and maintain large scale data ingestion, storage, processing, and search  systems
  • Understand the complex data requirements of modern ML development and tailor our data ecosystem to these needs
  • Work closely with Data Infrastructure engineers, ML Platform engineers, Computer Vision and ML engineers on high-impact projects to create innovative solutions to problems in the mobility space
  • Mentor junior engineers in their day to day work and drive best practices across the organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with cloud-based (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure) microservice architecture, event-driven, distributed architectures
  • 5+ years of experience with Python, Kotlin, C++, Java, or related programming languages
  • 3+ years of experience with data platforms, data pipelines, workflow orchestration, batch processing, and/or distributed databases
  • Experience in production system management, monitoring, and analysis
  • Business-level proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing

NICE TO HAVES

  • 3+ years of experience writing testable, modular code in Python
  • Experience with data streaming technologies (AWS Kinesis, Kafka, etc.) and stream processing technologies (Flink, Kafka Streams, Spark, etc.)
  • Experience with vector databases
  • Experience with data lifecycle products (data catalogs, lineage, governance, etc.)
  • Experience with Terraform, Docker, cloud-native technologies, networking and Kubernetes in production
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese speaking, reading, and writing
