The Operations team ensures Minderoo’s impact is sustainable and effective. It brings together Minderoo’s critical enabling functions of finance (financial control, procurement, grant management, tax, payroll, financial planning and analysis), investments, legal, risk and compliance, people and technology.

The Operations team ensures that Minderoo:

•             is financially sustainable;

•             has an effective governance and risk framework;

•             has fit-for-purpose tools, systems and processes;

•             makes informed decisions and allocates resources well; 

•             has an engaged and safe workforce; and

•             is compliant with regulations and internal policies.

They do this by maintaining and improving operational processes, systems and capabilities; providing strategic expert advice; managing legal financial and operational risks; investing, managing and growing the corpus; delivering a values-aligned people experience over the employee lifecycle; providing financial planning, reporting and insights, staying abreast of external best practice/trends and delivering transformational change.

Job Description

The Data and Business Intelligence Specialist at Minderoo will play a crucial role in enhancing our data capabilities and delivering business intelligence solutions. This position involves designing, developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, monitoring platform performance and health, and collaborating with product specialists, business analysts, integration engineers and business stakeholders to deliver impactful BI solutions. The role requires a blend of data engineering expertise and business intelligence acumen to support the foundation’s mission.

Qualifications

Additionally, you will bring:

  • Design and Develop Data Pipelines: Create and maintain scalable, secure, and operational data pipelines to support the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). 
  • Deliver Business Intelligence Solutions: Collaborate with product specialists to design and implement BI solutions that meet business requirements and enhance decision-making. 
  • Monitor Platform Performance and Health: Continuously monitor the performance and health of data platforms, ensuring optimal functionality and addressing any issues promptly. 
  • Manage Backlog and Platform Updates: Prioritise and manage the backlog of data and analytics tasks, ensuring timely updates and improvements to the data platform.
  • Ensure Data Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality across all data pipelines and BI solutions.
  • Data Quality and Governance: Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across all data models, pipelines and BI solutions.
  • Provide comprehensive technical documentation and support for data engineering and BI solutions, facilitating knowledge transfer and operational continuity.

 

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Proven experience in data engineering and business intelligence roles, with a focus on delivering high-quality data solutions and insights. 
  • Strong understanding of data security principles and practices, with experience in implementing and maintaining security measures & models, to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in data engineering tools and technologies, including SQL, Python, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions. Experience with Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure DevOps and Confluence. Strong experience with BI tools such as Power BI, including data visualisation and dashboard creation.
