Job Description:We are looking for a strong data scientist to join our commodities data science team. We highly value candidates with strong coding and quantitative skills and attention to detail in complex datasets.
As part of our team, you would:
-Work on problems involving diverse data sets – including combinations of images, tabular data, time series and more specialized remote-sensing datasets like SAR or stereo imagery-Understand the fundamentals of energy production, transport and trading-Build and maintain data engineering pipelines, SQL databases, machine learning models, unit tests, code documentation and GCP-hosted client-facing services and API endpoints-Communicate machine learning model results to team members and clients in clear, concise and quantitative terms-Work independently or in a team, be ready to share ideas, collaborate and learn.
Must-Haves
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in quantitative field (Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.), advanced degree preferred.
- Python coding experience in an applied setting (job/internship/thesis).
- Deep understanding of predictive modeling, machine-learning, clustering and classification techniques.
- 1–2 years of experience in quantitative research. data science, ML engineering, or backend development role (internship or academic project experience will be considered).
Nice-to-Haves
- Advanced knowledge of Python, Pandas and SQL
- Domain knowledge of upstream/downstream energy industries (could be exploration of resources, production, transport or processing)
- Domain knowledge of energy trading
- Research experience
- Github with examples of projects + code
- 1 - 2 years' of experience in quantitative analytics or data modeling - in an academic or corporate environment
- Handling large-scale geospatial datasets
- GCP tools and services
- Experience in data cleaning, model building and maintenance
- Experience with geospatial data in Python.
- Git/Github or other distributed version control systems
- Proficiency in PyTorch, scikit-learn, xgboost and other prominent ML libraries
