     • U.S. Citizenship Requirement
        Due to the nature of the work and requirements associated with government contracts, candidates must be U.S. citizens to be considered for this position.

        This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.

 

     • Work Location
        This position is based out of our Waltham, MA location. The successful candidate will be expected to be at the Waltham, MA office several days per week, with interactions with Madison, WI            lab team and possible travel to Madison, WI facility during the internship.

MAIN PURPOSE

  • Adapt (or create) machine learning tools to predict battery performance and identify battery material characteristics
  • Use in-house available data to train the model and test effectiveness
  • Organize available data to be processed by ML tools
  • Summarize results in technical reports

 

DIMENSIONS OF JOB

  • Office work for model development, data analysis, and summarize results and discuss with technical team

 

COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB

  • Data analysis
  • Interfacing with chemists
  • Learn sufficient information about data and testing protocols to be effective in model development

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create or adapt machine learning tools to predict battery performance and identify material characteristics
  • Generate easy to use ML models for future use by non-ML trained chemists and engineers
  • Be able to quickly get up to speed on battery working, battery testing and material characteristics relevant to the specific ML problems
  • Be savvy about understanding and cleaning the data, and limitations on future use and predictability of the ML models generated
  • Have a sense for the significance of model performance metrics and how they relate to real world performance

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analysis and Machine Learning

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of ML techniques
  • Building pipelines and easy to use systems for non-ML audiences

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience in basic lab processes and techniques
  • Preferred some experience with analytical instruments
  • MS Word, MS Excel

 

LANGUAGES REQUIRED

Language: English
