Market Research Analyst - Oils & Fats and Biodiesel

The will to dive deep into the commodity markets, the drive to understand key parameters and the skill to ask the right questions are the pillars of our Vesper platform.
As our Market Insights Analyst, you will contribute to much sought after insights on and expertise of the Oils & Fats and Biodiesel markets, which will be consulted by people in Oils & Fats and Biodiesel markets globally. Your insights and contributions will help build a market intelligence platform supporting decision making at the highest level.
Your work will be at the very heart of market analysis and insights at Vesper. By interacting and working together with key Oils & Fats and Biodiesel industry players, your work will help create transparency and a fair playing field in the commodity industry. Furthermore, you will be one of the go-to people for market insights related questions from different stakeholders (Customer Success, Developers, Product Owners, etc..).   Your main responsibilities will be:

• Identify fundamental market trends and changes in Oils & Fats and Biodiesel drivers such as prices, futures markets, production, and export & import trends
• Write leading market perspectives for our users, partners and online subscribers establishing Vesper’s reputation as the thought leader on Oils & Fats and Biodiesel intelligence
• Create weekly valuable market insights by combining sentiment from market participants and Vesper Data
• Lead, develop and present webinars to expand our reach and share our expertise
• Translate market insights and user feedback into actionable additions for our Vesper Oils & Fats and Biodiesel platform with our Product team
• Create and maintain a network within the commodity market
• Find new and missing data sources and derive new insights (e.g., derive production figures, create an Supply & Demand model)
• Articulate a strategy to meet user needs of different customer profiles in collaboration with the Product team
• Lead research projects successfully and independently, whilst collaborating with other data analysts
• Share knowledge with your colleagues on developments in the market and key market dynamics
• Strengthen our forecasting algorithms in collaboration with Data Science Team

What you will bring

• Analytical skills: A solid understanding of how to navigate through large data sets, apply problem solving skills and statistical techniques in order to derive actionable insights
• Outstanding (English) verbal and written communication skills
• Strong self-motivation and willingness to learn and deal with industries
• Ability to manage time and planning in through a variety of simultaneous projects
• Independence with ability to own processes end-to-end
• Proven knowledge and understanding of the Oils & Fats and Biodiesel industry (2-4 years of working experience in the Fats & Oils industry, i.e. Vegetable Oils, Oleochemicals, Animal Fats and Biodiesels)
• Knowledge of analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R)
• Flexibility in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly and adapt to a changing product
• Creativity throughout your work: in ways to construct relevant and reliable new data or insights, but also the ability to write attractive reports
• Bonus: extensive network in the Oils & Fats industry
