The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for transforming data into insights that drive business value. This position works closely with stakeholders across departments to identify trends, develop dashboards, and support data-driven decision-making.
This role is expected to work with information digital solutions, Risk team members, Enterprise D&A, business stakeholders, and vendors to help formulate strategies that support the Company’s strategic vision, maximize revenue, client retention and reducing risk. All solutions must meet Toyota’s technology standards.
Primary Job Accountabilities
Data Management: Extraction, Analysis, and Reporting:
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from internal and external sources.
- Partner with the business to identify data and reporting needs.
- Manage SQL, query, and other related databases for data analysis.
- Perform data modeling using Python and/or other relevant programming languages.
- Develop, manage, and communicate data analysis and reports.
- Manage and maintain process documentation and reports within Power BI.
- Perform proof of concept for reports and other business solutions.
- Support the Company’s vision for cloud-based data and reporting strategy.
- Oversee the development of reports (dashboards, views), from discovery through implementation, and ensure alignment with BI data and reporting governance practices.
- Facilitate and participate in project status meetings to identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
Business Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
- Lead the business requirements/user stories gathering sessions with stakeholders and IT to understand what data is required to support projects or initiatives.
- Ensure business needs and requirements are communicated, understood and documented. Translate the business and user requirements into system requirements.
- Leverage the understanding of our business and system processes to propose data solutions that are aligned with the business’ needs.
- Analyze programming requirements using business knowledge, subject matter experts (SMEs), and programming languages.
- Develop new tools to support the automation of current manual processes and reports.
- Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to uncover insights buried in data.
- Evaluate effects and implications of possible actions based on data insights, feedback provided by customers, employees, policies, SOPs and regulations.
- Support data stewardship.
Risk Management:
- Support the Enterprise Risk Management Committee (ERMC); including assisting with analysis, reports and recommendations.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s) continuously.
- Develop and enhance reports for Portfolio Management.
- Conduct data segregation to understand the root cause of issues.
- Build data-driven presentations and reports for TCPR Executives and business stakeholders.
Database Management:
- Ensure calibration of models while enhancing controls (Auto Approval, CDX, Pricing, etc.)
- Assist in the development of applications with a focus on data classification, data privacy, data protection, and security controls aligned to compliance regulations.
- Assess local databases to propose alternatives for standardization and optimization.
- Ensure database fields are well documented.
- Assist the IT Department in defining and designing different components for local databases.
- Write scaling secure code and maintain appropriate programming documentation, including workflows.
- Update and validate the reports used for decisioning (i.e., Tableau, Power BI)
Knowledge and Skills
Required:
- Four-Year College Degree (BA or BS): Business administration, Information Technology
Preferred:
- Advanced Degree. Specify: Data Science, Analytics, or Data Management related.
Experience – Subject Matter Expertise
Required
- 2-5 years of relevant / progressive work experience (in a similar field and/or industry)
- Expertise in SQL and querying related databases to acquire the necessary data for analysis.
- Ability to interpret and present findings in a clear, concise manner, including the creation and use of charts and graphics to summarize results.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
- High degree of organization skills, able to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook
- Skilled in data mining and analysis for patterns and trends identification by applying quantitative and analytical tools.
Preferred:
- 5-10 years of relevant / progressive work experience (in similar field and/or industry)
- Python and other relevant programming languages for data modeling.
- Expertise in Tableau, Power BI, or other reporting tools
- Kaizen, Lean, Agile, Six Sigma
- Financial Services, banking, or automotive industry experience
- Knowledge and understanding of Portfolio Management
- Project management knowledge
Additional Comments, Including Unique Circumstances
Work schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, there could be instances in which working overtime, weekends and/or during holidays could be required.
Travel could be required up to 5% of the time.
This position is based out of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This position does not offer relocation assistance.
