What will be your role

As our AI/ML Lead, you will be at the forefront of our artificial intelligence and machine learning practice in the Netherlands. You will be the visionary and key technical authority, responsible for shaping our AI/ML strategy and fostering a culture of innovation within our team and for our clients. You will act as the central point of contact for all AI/ML-related inquiries, empowering both our consultants and customers to leverage the transformative power of AI on Google Cloud. In essence, you are not just our technical authority, but a trusted advisor to our clients and a pragmatic leader for our team.

Your role is pivotal in driving our growth. You will guide the development of our team's AI/ML knowledge, collaborate with international counterparts, and work directly with our sales team and clients to attract and deliver cutting-edge AI/ML projects. This is an opportunity to build a market-leading practice and establish Devoteam as a premier thought leader in the AI domain.

What will be your day-to-day responsibilities:

Vision & Strategy - Define and drive the vision and strategic roadmap for Devoteam’s AI/ML propositions in the Benelux, contributing to our group-wide AI ambitions. You will do this in close collaboration with your counterpart in Belgium.

Business Development - Act as the key technical expert in the sales cycle. You will collaborate with the sales team to identify and attract new AI/ML projects, prepare compelling client pitches, and translate complex technical capabilities into tangible business value.

Team Enablement & Mentorship - Champion the development of AI/ML expertise across the team, ensuring a strong foundation in AI/ML concepts. Furthermore, you invest in our AI/ML engineers' growth, providing not just technical guidance but also empathetic mentorship to help them navigate their career paths.

Thought Leadership - Establish and maintain Devoteam’s position as a thought leader in the AI/ML space. This includes creating external awareness by writing articles, delivering presentations, and representing Devoteam at industry events.

Hands-on Innovation - Lead and contribute to hands-on research and development (R&D) projects to explore new AI/ML technologies and build innovative solutions, products, and accelerators on Google Cloud.

Stakeholder Management - Proactively educate our sales and consulting teams on the latest AI/ML trends and technologies. You will provide regular updates and report on the progress of AI/ML initiatives and objectives to the Innovation Lead.

Culture & Collaboration - Foster a psychologically safe, inclusive, and highly collaborative team environment. You will champion knowledge sharing and create a space where team members feel empowered to experiment, learn from failures, and support one another's growth.

Client Advisory & Relationship Management - Act as a senior advisor to clients, helping them navigate the complexities of AI adoption. You will excel at managing stakeholder expectations, building long-term partnerships, and ensuring our solutions deliver measurable and sustainable business value.

Qualifications

What we look for:

• You have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field.

• You have 5+ years of experience in the data and AI domain, with a proven track record of designing and implementing production-level AI/ML solutions.

• You possess extensive, hands-on experience with Google Cloud's AI/ML platform (e.g., Vertex AI, BigQuery ML, Generative AI Studio, and related services).

• You have a deep understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and best practices, including MLOps.

• You combine strong commercial acumen with experience in a client-facing or consulting role, demonstrating the ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and business challenges.

• You are an empathetic and influential leader, skilled at active listening and building strong, trust-based relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients from diverse backgrounds.

• You have proven experience in a lead or senior role, with a track record of guiding technical teams, mentoring colleagues, and driving projects to successful completion.

• You have a pragmatic approach to innovation, balancing cutting-edge research with the practicalities of project delivery. Your focus is always on delivering tangible outcomes and measurable ROI for our clients.

• You possess excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, capable of conveying complex AI/ML concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• You have an entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and are not afraid to try new things and challenge the status quo.

• You are based in The Netherlands, are willing to commute to our Amsterdam headquarters, and are open to traveling to our customers.

• You are fluent in both spoken and written English. 

Nice to haves:

• Fluency in Dutch is a plus.

• A portfolio of public-facing work, such as blog posts, conference talks, or open-source contributions.

• Experience working in a Benelux or international context.

• Broader knowledge of data architecture and data engineering principles.
