Staff IT Analyst III - Data Governance Analyst

What you'll do:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Governance Analyst to support enterprise data governance efforts, with a primary focus on file share oversight and control execution. This role is responsible for detecting non-compliant activities related to data retention, access, and security; executing and tracking governance controls; and maintaining audit-ready evidence. In addition, the analyst will play a critical role in establishing governance controls and procedural documentation, as well as supporting the onboarding and migration of environments into active governance.
  • Monitor dashboards and reports to detect activities out of compliance with retention, data security, or access management policies.
  • Work with area Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to remediate discrepancies.
  • Investigate and escalate anomalies or policy violations in partnership with information security, data owners, and governance leads.
  • Execute and track program controls, ensuring proper implementation and maintenance of compliance procedures across file share environments.
  • Collect, organize, and retain audit-ready evidence of control execution and compliance adherence.
  • Participate in the development of governance controls and procedural documentation, including standards, operating procedures, control narratives, and desktop execution guidance.
  • Support onboarding and migration activities into file share governance, including validation, cleanup, baseline control implementation, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Help establish and improve automation for reporting, compliance tracking, and evidence collection.
  • Provide cross-functional governance support across related domains such as asset management and configuration drift management as directed.
  • Assist with control testing, readiness reviews, and remediation tracking aligned with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to program performance reporting, metrics development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years of experience in IT governance, compliance operations, information security, or audit.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge in process and data analysis within data governance utilizing demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office & relevant Diagramming Software (e.g. Lucid, Visio, etc.), as well as technical aptitude & experience within a specific domain.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills and experience contributing to procedural documentation, standards, or governance control frameworks.
  • Experience working with file share environments (e.g., Windows file shares, SharePoint, OneDrive, NAS, etc.) and associated governance controls.
  • Solid understanding of data retention, classification, access management, and information protection policies.
  • Demonstrated experience with executing governance using Veronis or other governance, reporting, or discovery platforms
  • Familiarity with onboarding or migrating environments into controlled governance frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and industry standards such as FFIEC, SOX, NIST CSF, or HIPAA.
  • Occasional travel required.
