Job Summary

The Associate Director, Programs and Communications (AD) for the Clark Center for Global Markets works with the Senior Associate Director and the faculty directors to further the Clark Center’s mission and enhance the Chicago Booth brand. The cornerstone of the AD position is the meticulous operation of the Economic Experts Panels (EEP), but the AD will also work in Data Handling, Events, and Support. The AD must be a diligent individual with an unparalleled work ethic who has excellent problem-solving skills and is tenacious about seeing projects or problems through to completion or resolution. Incomparable communication skills, unsurpassed analytical and administrative skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as dictated by the tasks at hand, are essential to success as an Associate Director.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Clark Center’s communications and strategy leader. Develops, generates and oversees all external and internal Booth communication regarding the Center. Additionally, monitors the Center’s media coverage, current communications and social media trends, and maintains timely and relevant understanding of the field and its constituents. This includes various social media aspects, journalistic inquiries, and interfacing with the Booth Communications and Marketing Departments, and the Chicago Booth Review (CBR) about the Clark Center and the EEP and its polls, in particular.
  • Operates and maintains the Clark Center Forum (kentclarkcenter.org), which houses the Center’s three Economic Experts Panels (EEP) and its On Global Markets column. The site is a key external strategic initiative for the Center.
  • Handles all intra-EEP communication between Clark Center’s EEP representatives, the panels’ academics, the Clark Center’s consulting journalist, and the Clark Center’s contract columnist.
  • Handles all the day-to-day operation of the panels. This includes generating the polls in Qualtrics, sending polls out to panelists, closing the poll, posting the resulting to the kentclarkcenter.org site.
  • Acts as custodian for the EEP data.  This includes properly cleaning, posting and storing the data, and answering requests for data or re-iterating proper usage of data.
  • Oversees technical developments for all aspects of the Clark Center Forum, which includes operational awareness of updates, bugs, and software lifecycles.  Also requires steady communication with third-party suppliers.
  • Ensures that Clark Center Forum site adheres to all applicable data governance and WCAG guidelines.
  • Organizes the annual EEP Conference, which requires all relevant event logistics and coordination, as well as some travel.
  • Collects, cleans, analyzes, and stores data.  Foremost is the data that results from the EEP polls, but data tasks can apply to any data relevant to Clark Center’s mission, operations, events, etc.  Data must be appropriately stored and secured, suitably monitored, and readily accessible to Clark Center stakeholders, as well any applicable Booth or University stakeholder, such as Dean’s Office, Advancement, Student Affairs, and all data handling must abide by proper Booth, University, and other applicable policies and guidelines.
  • Oversees special projects on an ad hoc basis.
  • Uses best practices to develop and execute organization's operational and overall strategic plan. Develops and implements relevant policies and procedures and ensures compliance.
  • Plans, develops, analyzes and manages budget, including developing multi-year budget forecasts. May oversee the preparation and management of grant and contract proposals, ensuring compliance with all University, federal and private foundation guidelines and regulations. Develops financial reports and assists with seeking funding for grants.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with Qualtrics.
  • Knowledge of WordPress and HTML5
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of a programming language (R, Python, etc.).
  • Exceptional Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially with Excel, including VBAs.
  • Quickly learn new software packages as necessary.
