We are developing the Amazon Ads Agent, a transformative integration of Amazon Ads Console (AAC) and Amazon DSP (ADSP) into a single, AI-powered advertising buying experience. We own all aspects full stack from UX design, to platform technologies, pages and science research and services to make the next generation of amazon advertising a reality.
We are seeking an experienced science leader who is adept at a variety of skills; especially in generative AI, advertiser behavior modeling, reinforcement learning and, and large language models that will accelerate our plans to create the next generation ad portal - the Amazon Ads Agent. The right candidate will be an inventor at heart, provide science leadership, establish the right direction and vision, build team mechanisms, foster the spirit of collaboration and innovation within the org, and execute against a roadmap. The leader will provide both technical direction as well as manage a sizable team of scientists. They will need to be adept at recruiting, launching AI models into production, writing vision/direction documents, and building team mechanisms that will foster innovation and execution.
As a senior leader, you will play a critical role in elevating the team’s scientific and technical rigor, identifying and implementing best-in-class algorithms, methodologies, and infrastructure that enable rapid experimentation and scaling. You will establish a long-term vision for continued scientific innovation, setting strategic goals to future-proof the organization’s technical stacks and ML/LLM frameworks to support new and emerging business objectives. Additionally, you will grow talents, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning to enhance the organization’s ability to solve complex problems in advertising science.
As a Senior Manager for Applied Science, you will:
* Lead and grow a team of applied scientists and machine learning engineers working on amazon ads console personalization technologies
* Drive the technical vision for implementing ML and LLM-based solutions to improve the agentic advertiser experience
* Drive scalable ML/DL/RL and LLM solutions that can handle the breath and complexity of guiding over a million advertisers to success at scale
* Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to define and execute the technical roadmap for the new agentic ads console
* Translate complex customer problems into practical ML solutions
* Monitor and improve key performance metrics for advertiser performance, ease of use and satisfaction
* Stay current with the latest developments in ML/DL/LLM research and identify opportunities for implementation
• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Economics or highly related field (Statistics, Finance, Math)
• 10+ years in industry, consulting, government, or academic research
* 5+ years as a science leader or staff/principle level scientist.
• Proven track record of leading and managing science teams that deliver large impact
• Expert knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques
• Familiarity with large-scale data processing and storage systems
• Familiarity with LLMs.
• Experience leading GenAI/LLM projects
• Strong business acumen, proven track record in performing high-quality analysis of data at scale
• Track record of mentoring scientists
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to all levels of the organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $196,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $340,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
