Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $118,400 - $197,300 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

 

Scope of Job: Strategic technical manager responsible for leading an analytics function. This role manages a team of 8 to 10 direct reports including Analytics Solutions Architect, Data Analysts, and Business Intelligence Developers. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality analytics solutions while focusing on team development and change management. The position requires solid technical knowledge to guide and support the team while emphasizing leadership, organizational transformation, and stakeholder collaboration. The role involves close partnership with the Data Engineering Lead, Data Architect, and Data Governance teams and business stakeholders to drive data-driven decision making and operational insights across the organization.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Transformation Management:
    • Builds, leads, and develops a high-performing analytics team of 8 to 10 professionals.
    • Drives organizational transformation by enabling value creation for the business, empowering self-service, and fostering adoption of new analytics capabilities.
    • Provides coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members.
    • Establishes clear team goals, performance metrics, and career progression paths aligned with transformation objectives.
    • Leads recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build analytics capabilities.
    • Fosters a collaborative culture that embraces continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies and processes.
  • Technical Oversight & Standards:
    • Collaborates with technical team members to establish analytics standards and best practices.
    • Supports architectural decisions for analytics solutions with guidance from senior technical staff.
    • Ensures analytics projects follow established development methodologies and quality standards.
    • Works with the team to evaluate and recommend appropriate analytics tools and technologies.
    • Supports modern analytics practices including basic version control and development processes.
    • Ensures solutions align with security, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Data Ecosystem Integration:
    • Partners closely with Data Engineering Lead to ensure analytics requirements are incorporated into data pipeline design and development.
    • Collaborates with Data Architect to align analytics solutions with enterprise data architecture and modeling standards.
    • Works with Data Governance team to ensure analytics solutions comply with data quality, security, and regulatory requirements.
    • Contributes to enterprise-wide data policies and standards.
    • Coordinates with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure analytics platforms meet performance and scalability requirements.
    • Facilitates knowledge sharing and best practice exchange across data teams.
  • Analytics Strategy & Business Partnership:
    • Executes analytics strategy aligned with business objectives and operational improvement initiatives.
    • Manages analytics platforms governance and coordinates with team to support business intelligence needs.
    • Designs A/B tests and experiments with the team to optimize business processes and support decision-making.
    • Drives analytics adoption across the organization through training, communication, and change management.
    • Leads cross-functional projects and presents technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Establishes success metrics for analytics initiatives and measure business value, ROI, and data accuracy improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision of Others: Will have direct reports.

 

Working Conditions: 95% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 5% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in additional to attending various conferences and meetings.

 

Fiscal Responsibilities: Contributes to and operates within the budget for the D and A team.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical field, Master’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data roles with increasing responsibility
  • 2+ years of people management experience leading technical or analytical teams
  • Experience delivering analytics projects and supporting organizational change initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms (cloud-based data warehouses, business intelligence tools)
  • Background in collaborating with data engineering, data architecture, and data governance teams.
  • Experience with project management preferred.
  • Experience leading teams through organizational transformation or technology adoption, preferred.
  • Background in change management, training, or organizational development, preferred.
  • Experience with multiple analytics platforms and cloud technologies, preferred.
  • Previous experience in similar industry or domain, preferred.
  • Professional certifications in project management, analytics, or leadership, preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with business intelligence platforms
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake) and advanced analytics tools
  • Familiarity with analytics engineering practices and development tools (Git, CI/CD)
  • Working knowledge of SQL and basic understanding of programming concepts (Python, R preferred)
  • Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms and modern data warehouse concepts
  • Understanding of statistical concepts and experience supporting data analysis projects
  • Awareness of data modeling concepts and analytics development processes
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerBI administration and governance features, preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, A/B testing, and experimental design methodologies, preferred.
  • Experience with advanced analytics platforms (dbt, machine learning tools, predictive modeling), preferred.

Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams of 5-7 professionals with focus on coaching and mentorship.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to explain technical concepts to business audiences.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Experience leading teams through change, transformation, or technology adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and helping others adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Experience working in matrix organizations or leading cross-functional initiatives, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the renewables industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in speaking French is a plus.
