Solar Intern - Remote, US

As our Solar Intern, you’ll become an integral part of our Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) department. You'll offer direct, hands-on support to a team that's building cutting-edge programs, driving the adoption of distributed and community solar, and fostering vital relationships along the way. 

Solar energy is critical in driving our nation’s progress toward a decarbonized grid. You will play a material role in helping our team make this future a reality. At a high level, you will support our processing KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), efficiently engagement with customers, and onboarding new vendors to the program.  

Availability to work full-time (~40 hrs/week) is preferred, however we can be flexible for a strong candidate who can work at least 20 hours per week.

A day in the life of this role: 

• Application processing: review solar stakeholder business submissions to determine comprehensiveness 
• Consumer protection support: Evaluate customer concerns/complaints around solar projects such as installation, incentives, etc.  
• Strategy Team support: Collaborate with the Strategy team on reviewing compliance plans, designee renewals, and Approved Vendor (AV) registration support 

 

To set you up for success, our ideal candidate will have Intermediate skills in: 

• Excel 
• MS Word and PowerPoint 
• Customer service 

 

Compensation:  

• Undergraduate student: $21/hr 
• Graduate student: $24/hr 

In order to be eligible for this position, you must be: 

• Currently enrolled full- or part-time in an undergraduate program as a second to fourth-year student or enrolled in a graduate program.

• A US Citizen or permanent resident.  
  • Please note we are unable to host international students, including those with or without sponsorship.
• Available to meet your weekly hours requirement between September and November 2025.

• Be between 1 and 3 pages long, single or double spaced, not including sources. You may submit a document longer than 3 pages but we will not read past the 3rd page. 
• Demonstrate your ability to communicate your thinking about an idea. This is vague by design; anything that you wrote—whether for a class, a job, or for personal reasons—and are proud of will probably suffice. 
• Focus on a topic that is important to you. The topic does not have to be related to the internship you are applying for, but if it is, all the better.
