Are you a seasoned data and analytics leader ready to shape the future of enterprise data strategy in a complex, evolving organisation? Shell Energy is seeking a highly experienced Head of Data & Analytics in either Brisbane or Melbourne to drive transformation, lead innovation, and elevate the maturity of data capabilities across the business.

We’re looking for a dynamic leader who brings a wealth of experience. Someone with deep domain expertise and a passion for building modern, scalable data ecosystems.

In this influential role, you’ll:

• Own and execute the enterprise-wide data strategy, delivering trusted, secure, and timely data products.

• Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making, embedding analytics and agentic AI workflows at the heart of how we operate.

• Engage directly with Executives and senior leaders, providing critical insights and guiding high-impact decisions.

• Lead a skilled team in delivering end-to-end data platform transformation, including the migration from Snowflake to Databricks.

• Drive data governance, platform adoption, and enterprise-wide literacy uplift.

• Influence senior stakeholders through complex change with credibility and confidence.

• Advance the maturity of our data architecture and analytics capabilities with measurable business impact.

What you’ll bring

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

• Data & Analytics Maturity: Proven experience lifting enterprise data maturity, with a focus on building secure, well-governed, and scalable analytics capabilities that enable data-driven decision-making across the business.

• Strategic Delivery & Innovation: Demonstrated success leading complex data platform transformations (e.g., Snowflake to Databricks), with deep knowledge of modern tech stacks, data methodologies, project delivery frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), and emerging technologies.

• Executive Leadership & Team Management: A credible and inspiring leader of high-performing teams, with the ability to drive performance, coach talent, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in data.

• Influence & Stakeholder Engagement: Strong ability to engage and influence at executive and GM levels, driving business alignment, adoption, and change in a complex and fast-moving environment.

• Governance, Risk & Quality Oversight: Expertise in embedding data governance, risk management, quality assurance, and compliance practices to ensure the delivery of trusted, high-impact data products and insights.
