THE OPPORTUNITY
Netflix is revolutionizing the media and entertainment industry. Underpinning this revolution are leading-edge technology efforts in Cloud Infrastructure (running on Amazon Web Services) and Open Connect Content Delivery, which are the foundational components that deliver a great Netflix experience to 300M+ members around the globe. As a team, we are responsible for driving efficient utilization and scaling of our cloud infrastructure.
We are looking for a Manager to join our Technology Strategy & Analytics team focusing on driving infrastructure-aware product innovation decision making. You will partner with leaders and senior engineers across our Data Platform organization, which operates the data infrastructure needed to operate and improve our service (think: databases and caches that sit behind the user-facing Netflix experience, real-time client logging, data warehousing, etc.), which primarily runs on Amazon Web Services.
You will be responsible for deeply understanding Netflix's operational and analytical Data systems and partnering with engineering leaders in an analytical and strategic capacity to develop key metrics and drive overall Data cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, partner-focused, an effective communicator, and relentlessly curious. Ideal candidates have a proven track record of managing cross-functional working groups and hands-on analytics experience. We are a self-service, data-driven organization, so previous experience with query languages such as SQL, a scripting language (e.g., Python), or a strong desire to learn these skills is required. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, possess a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and be results-driven while upholding the highest personal and professional integrity and ethics.
In addition to intellectual curiosity and aptitude, we look for candidates who are excited by technology, either from a professional or personal background. Since we are deeply embedded with our business partners, having the ability to connect specific engineering initiatives to the broader Netflix business impact is critical to success.
This position is expected to operate at a senior level, leading cross-functional projects/teams composed of software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists while collaborating with engineering leadership. This role will report directly to the Senior Manager, Technology Strategy & Analytics and is based out of our Los Gatos (preferred) or Los Angeles office.

Provide strategic, ad-hoc analysis to engineering teams, senior leaders, and the broader finance organization.
Develop, report, and iterate on key operational and financial metrics.
Partner with our Data Platform Engineering and Data Science & Engineering teams to develop tools for cost visibility, deep analytics, and dashboarding.

Strong communicator with the ability to present to and context switch between peer groups and senior-level management, including distilling complex technical information into consumable concepts for non-technical audiences.
Ability and willingness to quickly learn internal data warehouse tools to independently (self-service) explore and analyze high-volume datasets.
Working proficiency with SQL or other query languages. Bonus: Familiarity with Python or another scripting language.
