We provide financial advice, insurance, as well as wealth and asset management solutions for individuals, groups and institutions.The Senior Data Analytics Specialist is responsible for providing business insights through in-depth analysis on financial and non-financial data. The person will evaluate business requirements, identify sources of data, and use business intelligence tools (e.g.; Power B.I.) to create analytically rich solutions to critical business and financial questions. The role will also develop standardized reports, dashboards and self-service access to critical information for individuals across all the functional groups within Manulife. The candidate must need to become quickly familiar with the data, its structure, and also have strong business acumen (in finance, strategy, marketing, technology, products) which will allow to create meaningful insights in support of the business.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with business stakeholders to define business requirements; identify and recommend potential data sources and solutions; and develop customized reports, analyses, and/or data visualizations that answer the problem.
Provide business insights to uncover growth and expense levers (revenue and cost), identify, evaluate and size opportunities to improve business value.
Develop analytically rich solutions that help us both understand what has happened in the past, and help us predict what will happen in the future.
Identify and design processes that ensure data integrity and accuracy across the entire organization
Lead the assigned projects and allocate tasks in the project team. Ensure prompt completion of specific deliverables. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in project completion and work cooperatively with all internal and external contacts.
Provide weekly project updates to business sponsor, leadership and other stakeholders to include a high-level overview of project progress, risks, and issues.
Ensure adherence to data management/data governance regulations and policies.
Ensure data is presented in a structured and easy to understand manner with actionable insights. Provides research and data gathering activities to enrich the data set.
Manage assigned projects and support activities of team. Ensure prompt completion of specific deliverables. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in project completion and work cooperatively with all internal and external contacts.
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years’ experience analytics, data science, finance or strategy
Degree in finance, math, statistics, computer science, economics and other quantitative discipline with strong business and finance background.
Working experience in Power BI with Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders including mid-level managers
Ability to clearly articulate ideas and results to diverse business and technical audiences
Understanding of principles of statistics.
Curious, highly motivated self-starter who is adept at problem solving and comfortable with learning new analytical skills.
A high degree of organizational skills, ability to set priorities, manage multiple demands and the ability to complete tasks under strict time lines is required.
Ability to work across multiple departments.
Self-motivated person with a positive, professional attitude and ability to work independently and on teams.
Flexible and self-motivated, with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
