The Data Architect and ETL Developer will play a critical role in helping to drive forward the future of Reporting, Analytics, and data-backed decisions at Clearwave Fiber.
What you will do:
- Assembling large, complex sets of data in an efficient manner that meet functional and non-functional business requirements
- Identifying, designing, building, and implementing data infrastructure and pipelines to allow for a fully functional data warehouse to support all segments of the business. This will include updating models as new requirements are discovered and helping drive technical architecture in a manner that most benefits the business
- Focusing on sustainable and scalable builds, while implementing intermediate solutions along the way to provide a mix of quick implementations and high-quality products
- Building analytical tools to utilize the pipeline of data, resulting in actionable insight to drive KPIs for the company and helping to predict future metrics and performance
- Act as the business voice in conversations with IT and as the IT steward in conversations with the business, ensuring that solutions are implemented that benefit both groups
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
What you will have:
- 5 years prior experience in a role as a data engineer or a data architect including ETL / ELT responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Stack of data storage (SQL Server, Azure, etc.), data movement (SSIS, ADF, etc.), and reporting (SSRS, Power BI, etc.)
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency in ambiguous situations and to quantify results delivered in a meaningful way
- Familiarity with Data Warehousing concepts (Kimball vs Inmon, data governance, etc.)
- Experience auditing databases for access, usage, and sensitive data points
- Extensive knowledge of tSQL and at least one analytical language (R, Python, etc.), preferably used in Microsoft ML Server
- Experience working in a cloud-based data environment and using modern connection methodologies (APIs, optimized drivers vs standard ODBC, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR 7+ years of directly applicable experience in the Business Intelligence arena
- Self-motivated inquisitive mindset, capable of learning new skills and new approaches to problem solving
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to and experience with unstructured big data environments and using Map Reduce functions
- Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly in diagnosing and optimizing poorly performing queries
- Background in the telecommunications industry
- Proficient in utilizing APIs as data sources for importing and integrating information Proven ability to move data from source systems into data warehouses and reporting tools to support strategic decision-making
- Comfortable working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Lean, or DevOps
- Understanding of basic finance concepts (ROI, etc.), Operational concepts (workforce efficiency, cost/benefit analysis, etc.) and Project Management (Waterfall and iterative methodologies)
