The Opportunity
Help drive impactful research at UniSC as an eResearch Analyst, where you’ll support researchers in harnessing high-performance computing and advanced data analysis tools to accelerate and strengthen their work. You’ll play a hands-on role in enabling innovative research outcomes by tailoring support channels and technical solutions to meet the unique needs of each project.

You will
- Provide expert advice on local and Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation (QCIF) research computing infrastructure and manage the ongoing administration, innovation, delivery and development of eResearch skill training, research and consultancy to researchers;
- Liaise with the UniSC Research community through University eResearch Groups, establish where required, to drive enhanced research engagement between UniSC and QCIF;
- Develop new engagement groups, support channels and opportunities to drive enhanced research support; and
- Facilitate the use of the broad suite of QCIF capabilities and training opportunities by connecting UniSC researchers to the relevant programs of QCIF.
About you
You're someone who thrives on engaging with researchers from diverse disciplines and can explain complex eResearch concepts in clear, accessible ways. With highly developed analytical and conceptual skills, you quickly grasp new ideas and turn them into innovative, practical solutions. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with a collaborative approach, make you a trusted and effective partner in advancing research outcomes.
You will possess:
- Completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification or progress towards a postgraduate qualification with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training;
- High-level specialist skills in a data-intensive research field, with experience in working at the intersection of research and computing; OR extensive experience in the management and support of eResearch or e-infrastructure in a research environment;
- Experience in managing, using, or providing user support for HPC systems, cloud infrastructure, storage infrastructure, and/or specialist research analysis infrastructure such as GPU clusters and very high memory systems;
- Experience in at least one programming language or system (for example R, Python, Linux, BASH or SQL) to a level sufficient to provide user training or coaching in that language;
- Ability to establish effective professional relationships and to represent and promote QCIF at a university level, including the ability to handle situations which require initiative, independent judgement, and consultation with senior stakeholders desirable;
- Formal qualifications or significant experience in the development and/or delivery of short format training courses;
- Expertise in one or more of the following in a research or research-support role: sensitive data management, machine learning, data visualisation, statistical analysis, image analysis, containerisation, workflow software, GIS;
- Significant experiences with one or more of the following: Open Refine, MATLAB, REDCap, Qualtrics, NVivo, Bioinformatics software, SPSS, Jupyter Notebooks, R Shiny;
- Familiarity with FAIR data principles; and
- A track record in organising educational and engagement events for the research community, such as seminars, workshops, briefing sessions, and conferences.
