Position Summary

In this highly visible role, this individual will provide key leadership on the company’s data engineering platforms.  This Data Engineering Lead will be a senior-level technical leader responsible for overseeing the data engineering team and ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of data solutions. They will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, while also guiding and mentoring team members. 

Responsibilities

Lead & Mentor Engineers and Data Analysts:

  • Align Engineering work with the priorities of business strategies and technical requirements
  • Lead Engineers in the completion of assigned projects and project tasks
  • Work across the organization to deliver data engineering capabilities through clear leadership/direction, influence, and integration with agile development processes

Drive and support the enterprise data analytics platform and related capabilities:

  • Create data engineering technical strategy to ensure health and quality of data pipelines and connectivity
  • Recommend and support platforms that achieve business results, ensuring technical viability of new projects, successful deployments, orchestration of key resources and adoption of key data technologies (e.g. Azure Data Services like Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL DW, and SQL Server)
  • Design, develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data ingestion, transformation, and integration from various sources, including APIs, databases, and external data providers
  • Ensure data pipeline architectures, workflows, and procedures for internal and external stakeholders are documented and supportable

Design and implement solutions that meet business requirements:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data pipeline architectures, ensuring data quality and consistency across multiple data sources
  • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Advance the Engineering Organization and Skillsets:

  • Stay informed of new technologies and capabilities that will advance our services and productivity and look for opportunities to pilot appropriate use cases
  • Champion the development and evolution of the engineering capabilities and skillsets across the organization

Experience & Skills

Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree (Computer Science, MIS or equivalent) with certification or advanced degree in data analytics
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex data pipelines (Microsoft ADF, Data Bricks, etc.)
  • Proven experience in design and implementation of enterprise data lakes, real-time data integration, data modeling, and metadata management, in tools such as Azure Synapses, Snowflake, Databricks
  • Experience in metadata management, ETL processing, reference data management
  • Experience in data application/platform instrumentation, measurement, log data processing, and monitoring
  • Experience with scripting, automation and SQL/PL-SQL and high-level languages such as Python and Java.

  • Ability to identify conflict and assist others in conflict resolution in a positive manner to help the project move forward
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and desire to manage and coach others
  • Proactive, self-managed and detail-oriented

Pay Range

  • $135,000 - $165,000
