About the role

We are looking for an Internal Audit Data Analyst to support the Group Internal Audit (GIA) team by providing data analytics, using various tools and techniques to extract, transform, and visualize data from different sources, and generate risk and control insights. You will present results clearly, making sure they are supported by sufficient evidence.

Alongside this you will support the GIA Team in communicating audit results to management and other stakeholders, in a timely and professional manner. The role holder will also develop and produce GIA dashboards and Management Information reports at required frequency.  You will ensure the process is aligned with best practice, audit methodology and professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Subject Matter Experience – to be a subject matter expert with regard to the data analytics relating to data product design, data modelling, SQL Solutions, Purview and Power BI and other technologies. Use programming languages such as Python and R to automate data analysis tasks, enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness, and develop new capabilities and solutions.

  • Provide data analytics support to the Audit Team, using various tools and techniques to extract, transform, and visualize data from different sources, and generate risk and control insights.

  • Contribute towards the achievements of GIA's Strategy.

  • Continuous improvement – innovate by driving continuous improvement relating to technical solutions, making appropriate use of new technology, including own knowledge development.

  • Operational Process Support - develop and produce GIA dashboards and Management Information reports at required frequency.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Building and maintaining effective business stakeholder relationships

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, data science or equivalent experience in a Data Management/Business Intelligence profession

  • Demonstratable skills in the Azure Data Platform (Fabric, Power BI and SQL).

  • Proven visualisation and dashboard development skills.

  • Experience in the use of data catalogues and data quality technologies.

  • Experience in providing data quality analytics through gathering data to communicating the results.

  • Knowledge and experience of data analytics tools and techniques (SQL, Python, PowerBI, R) and statistical and analytical methods. Operational familiarity in the use of meta-Data Management, data quality, and data stewardship tools and platforms.

  • Communication skills: Ability to document and present findings and data analysis results and recommendations clearly, concisely, and objectively, using evidence, data, visual aids, and data storytelling techniques, and to communicate effectively with different audiences. Excellent data visualisation and presentation skills using commercial and/or open source software.

  • Organizational skills: Ability to assist in audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up, and to manage time, resources, tasks, and deadlines efficiently and independently.

  • Teamwork skills: Ability to work collaboratively with GIA Team, share knowledge and expertise

  • Curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills: Ability to create new ideas to apply data analytics to business data to generate new risk or control insights, challenge the control environment or enhance risk assessments, and solve problems and overcome challenges logically and innovatively.

  • A willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new technologies.
