About this opportunity:

Data Modelers specialize in designing data structures and schemas that effectively organize and manage an organization's data on modern data platforms. They work closely with data engineers and business stakeholders to ensure that data models align with business needs and support data analysis.

What you’ll do:

• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence on modern enterprise data platforms

• Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into data models for implementation on these modern data platforms

• Collaborate with data engineers to implement data structures and schemas within the data environment

• Participate in data governance initiatives, contributing to data standards and policies on DG and DQ platforms

• Validate data models for accuracy and completeness, ensuring they meet business needs and are successfully implemented

• Document data models and data dictionaries for clarity and to facilitate understanding among stakeholders, emphasizing the integration with modern data platforms

• Assist in data quality initiatives by defining data validation rules within the data models, with a focus on leveraging the advanced features of platform like Datasphere, Databricks, and Snowflake

• Stay ahead of industry trends and advancements in data modeling to continuously improve the organization's data architecture on these platforms

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field

• 8+ years of experience in data modeling, with a solid focus on enterprise-level data architecture

• Proficiency in data modeling tools and database design

• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and structures

• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data architectures (e.g., data lakehouse, data mesh)

• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality practices.

• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry as a Data Modeler
