About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer in the Specialty Analytics team at Swiss Re, you will architect and develop advanced data and analytics solutions that drive key business decisions in our Property & Casualty (P&C) domain. You’ll be part of a forward-looking team using cutting-edge big data technologies to address challenges posed by climate change, geopolitical instability, and emerging risk areas.
You’ll take end-to-end ownership of data solutions, working closely with stakeholders to transform raw data into actionable insights through scalable pipelines and interactive applications.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement end-to-end analytics solutions using Palantir Foundry, including:

Scalable data transformation pipelines in PySpark
-
Web applications with Workshop (low-code) and TypeScript
-
Translate business needs into technical specifications in close collaboration with Product Owners and Architects.

Troubleshoot and resolve functional and technical data issues for stakeholders.

Actively contribute to the evaluation and prototyping of new analytics platform capabilities.

Collaborate across a global, cross-functional team to deliver robust and high-impact data products.
About the Team
The Specialty Analytics team delivers tailored analytics solutions across niche lines of business: Agriculture, Aviation, Credit & Surety, Cyber, Nuclear, and Political Violence. We’re part of a global strategic initiative to maximize the value of P&C data and enable data-driven decisions across the reinsurance value chain.

Your Profile

Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
-
6+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics roles

Expertise in Python/PySpark for scalable data pipelines

Proficiency in SQL, especially Spark SQL
-
Experience building user-facing applications with JavaScript/TypeScript
-
Familiarity with Palantir Foundry is a significant advantage

Domain knowledge in (Re)Insurance, finance, or related fields is a plus
-
Understanding of data warehousing, ELT techniques, and cloud data architectures

Agile mindset and practical experience with Scrum or other agile frameworks

Bonus: knowledge of HTML/CSS, Gradle, or Power BI

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 3,300] and [EUR 5,500] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.
