Job Summary

May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of growth as we expand our first-of-its-kind autonomous shuttle and mobility services across the nation. Launched in 2017 with a strong team of experienced roboticists, perception, behavior, AI, and software engineers with decades of experience fielding robotic systems in the wild, May Mobility is looking to expand its team of perception engineers with a background in robotics or autonomous vehicles. 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer or above with expertise in testing, evaluation and safety as it relates to commercially deployed Robotics and Machine Learning systems. As part of the Perception team, you will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining high standards for system performance in terms of quality, safety and reliability.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Track Perception stack performance using various tool suites to ensure strictly increasing performance over time
  • Own the creation and maintenance of systems and processes to identify and act on performance regressions, deficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Review performance in vehicle logs to perform root cause analysis and determine plan of action for testing and annotation
  • Create new Software routines to calculate metrics and monitor performance across training, simulation and software runtime suites
  • Define new system metrics and criteria to evaluate performance in rare and safety critical edge cases
  • Monitor and improve the runtime performance of test and evaluation pipelines for large scale processing
  • Curate training and test datasets, directing development workflows to focus on high-priority and safety critical data and situations
  • Produce reports conveying performance information to external stakeholders
Skills and Abilities

Success in this role typically requires the following competencies:

  • Strong command of Python and design patterns, package management and repository management
  • Functional understanding of ML training workflows and the role of various data and training/inference frameworks
  • Experience with spatiotemporal data, including basic coordinate transforms, rotations, linear algebra and physics concepts
  • Working understanding of LLM landscape, prompt formatting, interacting with and managing both on-prem + API instantiations
Qualifications and Experience

Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with strong mathematical and engineering foundations.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of Software Engineering experience in production environments with high quality/safety standards
  • Experience with and general knowledge of ML models and concepts including VLMs and LLMs. 
  • Proficiency in C/C++/Python and experience in software development in Linux environments.

Desirable

  • Experience with Robotics systems
  • Experience with LiDAR, RADAR and/or Camera sensor data
  • Experience with ML inference and/or Training applications
Physical Requirements
  • Standard office working conditions which includes but is not limited to:
    • Prolonged sitting
    • Prolonged standing
    • Prolonged computer use
  • Travel required? -  Moderate: 11%-25%
Salary Range$175,000—$215,000 USD
